Saxophonist Eric Person brings his dynamic band Meta-Four to the Bean Runner Cafe where they will present a special program "The music of McCoy Tyner." The evening will consist of songs composed by Mr. Tyner or inspired by his musical presence. Eric Person has toured and recorded with many jazz greats such as Dave Holland, McCoy Tyner, Chico Hamilton, John Hicks, the World Saxophone Quartet and many others. In his music, Person seeks to transcend the common terrain of modern jazz. His music lights up the scene with a rare lyricism and uncommon sensitivity. A recent review in the Kansas City Star states: "Saxman Eric Person turned in a deeply impressive show... Person and his Meta-Four band played with a singleness of purpose that we never hear enough of. Each player seemed concerned with pushing the others to play their best-and they did." "Person is more than fine; he's a major talent of his generation." Russ Musto-All About Jazz Magazine. Admission $10.

Cea Marie has been making music for many moons with various bands and fellow musicians. some of these experiences have been wonderful. some have been not so wonderful and quite and heart-breaking. she moved to columbia county, ny in 2006 and took a little musical "siesta" so she could repair and reflect. during this time she continued on her other project, hba, and began slowly writing again, until a new body of work was formed. she met jez through some remix work he did on some of hba's material and asked him if he'd produce her new album, though she had no money to pay him with and only poor jokes. he suprisingly said yes. either he is crazy for saying yes or knows good music when he hears it. and thus cea marie officially was born.

Friday 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm | Detroit Americana Duo on Tour with Lac La Belle Americana, Folk/Traditional, and Roots Music | The Spotty Dog 440 Warren St. Hudson, NY See Map |
Americana duo Lac La Belle, of Detroit, Michigan, juxtaposes the early decades of recorded rural American music with decaying Rustbelt aesthetic. A tradition is re-imagined- or maybe just resumed- in the ‘future-rustic’ swirl of accordion, ukulele, mandolin, banjo, and resonator guitar. The instrumentation echos another era, but is employed for a music of now. Jennie Knaggs mined folk music first hand from local musicians of the Appalachian region. Her snapping rhythm guitar, mandolin and accordion playing are all in fine display with Lac La Belle. She is the 2000 Hollerin' Champion of Wise Co., Virginia and Letcher Co., Kentucky, and she gracefully applies her vocal techniques in the duo's original works with her soaring and yodeling vocals. Nick Schillace has toured and performed with other fingerpicking greats including Bert Jansch, Peter Lang, and Jack Rose, and is considered an authority on early 20th century American fingerpicking guitar styles.
