SNARF play in reckless abandon
Peint O Gwrw
Main Street
Chatham, NY   See Map
An evening of extremely refined yet unapologetically raunchy performances of original compositions, tastefully interspersed with some very nearly recognizable "kuvvertoons" to make you feel like "Ah, there's something I think I might have heard before." Besides laying down the funky SNARF CARPET of synaptic necromancy actively rejuvenating FARFIGNEWTON, that everyone has come to expect from this dark cloud on the music horizon, the PMQ will stop at nothing to do something. I forgot what it was, so if you want to know, well I guess you're just gonna hafta make it down to Tom's Peint O Gwrw in Chatham this Saturday at 8:00 pm. Suggestion- Bring your ears!

KENNY WHITE, guest Brett Randell
Singer-Songwriter
Towne Crier Cafe
130 Route 22
Pawling, NY   See Map
Kenny White is one of the most sought after producers/composers/pianists in NYC. He's written and arranged literally hundreds of national TV and radio commercials, working with Linda Ronstadt, Dwight Yoakam, Gladys Knight, Aaron Neville, Ricky Skaggs, Kathy Mattea and others on tunes indelibly printed in your mind. He has also scored and written songs for many indie and major studio films. His production of Shawn Colvin's I Don't Know Why, from Fat City, helped earn her a Grammy nomination. Amid all his success, Kenny woke up one morning and realized that his real passion may have eluded him ...up to that point. He took his collection of well crafted, insightful & very musical compositions, assembled a group of A-List players and recorded Uninvited Guest, then hit the road with some of his very talented pals. This worked so well and to everyone's delight (including our own), that we're sure you'll be delighted too!

Elyse Simpson
Acoustic, Folk/Traditional
Taste Budd's Chocolate and Coffee Cafe
40 West Market Street
Red Hook, NY   See Map
Nominated for Best Female at the Ontario Independent Music Awards, seventeen year old Elyse Simpson's mix of virile vocals and emotive lyrics create a roaring and juxtaposed style of folk fusion.

With prominent influence from artists Tom Waits, Bob Dylan, The Beatles, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sufjan Stevens and a classical up bringing, Elyse sparks her music through an eclectic background.

Crooning mantras about self reconnaissance and inner faith, Elyse's sound speaks with a maturity and a sense of nostalgia . Lyrics such as “But now you throw away your convictions like clandestine change.” and “ we're both defensive but can we defend?” lend an ambiguity and create a definitive connection to her audience.

Driven by spirituality, passion, a genuine love and a sultry inclination towards performing, Elyse breathes a sincerity from a melancholic and fiery core.

Singer/Songwriter Sunday
with Steve Chizmadia
Singer-Songwriter
12 Grapes Music & Wine Bar
12 North Division Street
Peekskill, NY   See Map
Steve's songwriting has received considerable acclaim over the years. Most recently, Steve attended the 2010 Kerrville Folk Festival where his song, "Wall Street Fat Cat Tax Payer Bailout Blues", was one of eleven finalists in the Music2Life songwriting contest. Steve came home with the Grand Prize and got to perform on the main stage during the prestigious festival. It was his second time in Kerrville, the last as a 2003 finalist. Steve also showcased at the Northeast Regional Folk Alliance in NY, and his CD, "It Is What It Is", was #12 on the folk D.J. charts in 2007. "This Old Town" (one of our favorites), received honorable mention from the Woody Guthrie Folk Festival in '05.

Whether he's singing pull-at-your-heartstrings tunes like "It's Always Texas" or economic-comic-relief songs like "Fat Cat", Steve Chizmadia is a songwriter not to be missed.

"Elegant yet raw, darkly emotional but also shot through with light, The Trapps new disc is full of surprising contrasts and casual beauty -- rangy, experimental roots-rock played with confidence and hope." - Jason Fine, Executive Editor, Rolling Stone Magazine

The Trapps are an American band that taps the roots of Americana, folk, and rock and roll, and wraps it all into a tightly-knit package that is entirely their own. Though their musical influences are far reaching, the greatest strength of the band is their commitment to the song - all at once they can grab you with powerful harmonies like the Jayhawks or rivet you with a high intensity jam like the Black Crowes. For The Trapps, the song is the law, and like the mountain climber, there are a great many ways to approach the ascent, but the thrill is to ultimately finish having learned something along the way.

MOPCO brings its unique brand of improv -- Friday nights at 8:00pm.

Created by Kat Koppett in association with Freestyle Repertory Theatre in New York, Spontaneous Broadway is a virtouso evening of musical improv.

The audience submits titles of "songs that have never been written". In a fictional "backer's audition", these titles inspire improvised songs in act one. In act two, the audience's favorite song serves as the basis of an entire (45 minute) Broadway musical, complete with costumes and set.

The format received a rave review from The New York Times when it premiered in New York in 1995. You ain’t seen nuttin’ like it, folks!
