Livingston Taylor, one of the most distinctive singer-songwriters of the last thirty+ years, embodies both down-home sensibility as well as urban sophistication. Taylor is a throwback to the roots of folk singing: the back porch storyteller, invoking the historical lessons of earlier generations and a lifetime of experiences to the wonderment of a transfixed audience. As a member of one of the most successful and renowned musical families since the Von Trapps, Livingston has taken what could be considered a tremendous burden, and transposed it into a lifetime of personal artistic success & accomplishment. To see him and to hear him play is to be welcomed into Liv's musical home. So, pull up a chair and settle back with Livingston Taylor's music & stories at the Towne Crier Cafe!

Peekskill, NY   See Map
If you missed their previous 12 Grapes performances, now's your chance! Andy Aledort has performed with scores of rock legends... Dickey Betts, the Allman's and the late, great, Stevie Ray Vaughn. Famous for meticulously capturing, note-for-note, the licks and tone of artists like Clapton and Hendrix, Andy Aledort is often tapped for high-profile appearances. When a band needs a player who can recreate the guitar work of Stevie Ray, Buddy Guy, Albert King, Freddie King or Johnny Winter, Andy delivers in a big way. Aledort was once sought after by Aerosmith's Joe Perry for an emergency Blues lesson, and has performed as a member of the Dickey Betts and Great Southern band for the last five years, displaying masterful slide guitar work. Aledort also participated in a series of Jimi Hendrix Tribute concerts, including a three-city tour of the west coast with veteran bluesman Buddy Guy. Dinner Reservations recommended.

MOPCO brings its unique brand of improv -- Friday nights at 8:00pm.

Created by Kat Koppett in association with Freestyle Repertory Theatre in New York, Spontaneous Broadway is a virtouso evening of musical improv.

The audience submits titles of "songs that have never been written". In a fictional "backer's audition", these titles inspire improvised songs in act one. In act two, the audience's favorite song serves as the basis of an entire (45 minute) Broadway musical, complete with costumes and set.

The format received a rave review from The New York Times when it premiered in New York in 1995. You ain’t seen nuttin’ like it, folks!

LEON REDBONE
Acoustic, Americana
Towne Crier Cafe
130 Route 22
Pawling, NY   See Map
Although Leon Redbone's iconic guise of white fedora, jacket and dark sunglasses has been thoroughly satirized, it's easy to overlook what a genuinely gifted artist he remains. His love affair with tunes from the turn-of-the-19th/20th-century, flapper-era radio ditties, depression-spawned ragtime and WWII folk-jazz is as contagious as a good giggle. Opportunities for this unlikely figure to impose himself on pop culture have been plentiful: his network debut on Saturday Night Live in 1976, making him a cult classic; the wise, animated snowman in Elf (his duet on Baby, It's Cold Outside served as the picture's theme song); TV title tunes to Mr Belvedere and Harry & The Hendersons; the homespun beer jingle This Bud's for You; the Getting To Know You voice on a series of Chevrolet ads; etc. It's easy to get lost in his stage exploits, and overlook what a truly fine player he is – fingerpicking with a ragtime bounce or jumping between chords with the grace of a card sharp.
