My primary instrument is my voice, and my guitar embellishes, accompanies, and decorates it. My sound and style are my own. Exposure to music and vocal styles of all types, ranging from standards to jazz to folk/traditional to blues, and to the music of Great Britain, the Appalachian Mountains of Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia, and North Carolina, have influenced my sound and led me to describe my music as "eclectic acoustic." I have opened for Christine Lavin and Dave Cousins and performed in Showcases and the Open Mic Finals at the Towne Crier Cafe in Pawling, NY, and appeared in venues in the Hudson Valley and Southwestern CT. I perform a good mix of songs, including my own compositions, covers, and traditional music. I like to tell the stories of the traditional songs I sing and might focus on the song's provenance, themes, imagery, history, depiction of characters, etc. Listeners tell me that they enjoy learning about this traditional music.

201 S. Division Street @ Esther
Peekskill, NY   See Map
The Dalliance (www.thedalliance.org) is a local band on a mission to rekindle the romance between music and American politics that’s been cold since the seventies. Their recent single, “Wake Up Stand Up” gained the attention of Coffee Party USA, a grassroots organization dedicated to restoring democracy and unity in America. The Coffee Party invited The Dalliance to perform at their first national convention in Louisville, KY on September 24th. “Open Mic for the Open Road” is a fundraising concert to help The Dalliance hit the road and rock for democracy. The Dalliance will open with an acoustic set of their unique alt-rock and then turn the stage over to lead singer/guitarist Barry Mangione who will host an acoustic open mic. Bring your guitar, your voice, and your love of music, but come early since time will be limited. There is no cover charge, but donations to help the band on their way are recommended and will be appreciated.

Pawling, NY   See Map
Those of you who were here for the John Stewart Memorial Tribute Concert two years ago will undoubtedly never forget it. It was a meaningful evening of John Stewart's enduring music, performed by those who knew and loved John & his music best. This concert offers a second chance, both to those who know what a great show these musicians offer, and to those who unfortunately missed the April 2008 concert after John's passing, originally scheduled for John Stewart himself. The John Stewart Band is comprised of the sidemen (all with careers of their own) who played with Stewart for over two decades. Consisting of Chuck McDermott, John Hoke, Dave Crossland and Bob Hawkins on guitars, as well as drummer Dennis Kenmore and bassist Dave Batti, they have performed numerous shows featuring the music of John Stewart across the country. Look for other "special guests" to appear.

Having played together for years in various combinations, all four are members of the dynamic New York City–based orchestra The Knights, a group whose recent engagements have included two recordings for the Sony Classical label and performances at the Dresden Musikfestspiele.

The four musicians respectively have diverse experience in non–western and folk music styles – North Indian classical music studies, performances with Yo–Yo Ma's Silk Road Ensemble, American folk and old–time music, experimental and multi-genre collaborations – all of which add to the breadth of the Caravel's repertoire and curiosity.

A quirky blend of personalities and musical influences, the Ya Yas have been regulars on the Long Island music scene, performing in coffeehouses and cafes, local festivals, and private concert venues, toured 3 years with Dave Isaacs' country-roots band Jackalope Junction, and now call the Hudson Valley their home, where they are hard at work on their second album.

Seeing these three perform is like spending an evening with them in their living room - inviting, entertaining, and a little goofy. Their songs can range in feel from folk-pop to country-tinged to singer-songwriter-with-groove. What remains constant are well-crafted songs with deceptively simple lyrics about people you feel you might know, people who view themselves and the world with both honesty and compassion.

Enjoy food, drink, and JAZZ.........Legend has it the ghost of a murdered socialite comes around waiting for a train she never caught. The menu focuses on comfort food like burgers, pot pie and meatloaf. There’s outdoor dining in summer, but live music, a raw bar and a fireplace inside the 1893 building mean year-round popularity.
