For Ella
with Patti Austin
Jazz, Motown/R&B, and Pop/Soft Rock
Belleayre Music Festival
181 Galli Curci Road
Highmount, NY   See Map
Grammy winner, Patti Austin’s sophisticated vocal technique has earned her acclaim in the fields of jazz, R&B and pop. On both the Grammy nominated recording, “For Ella,” and her live concert performances based on the album, Patti offers a dazzling tribute to Ella Fitzgerald. Instead of trying to mimic Ella, she has absorbed Ella’s vocal style into her own voice, and the result is an amazing synthesis. She rose to stardom with her chart-topping duet with James Ingram, “Baby Come to Me.” And her 2008 Grammy for “Avant Gershwin,” was her ninth Grammy nomination.

with KEVIN KANE Band
Singer-Songwriter
Towne Crier Cafe
130 Route 22
Pawling, NY   See Map
Recently dubbed Westchester's best songwriter/original band following the positive critical reception of their new CD Saturday Night Coffee, and riding a growing wave of enthusiasm for the new single and video Get America Working, the Kevin Kane Band looks poised to start flying way above the radar. Critics are particularly complimentary of the band's full range of song styles -- catchy riff rock, lyrical melody lines, new country and blues, up tempo pop and a three part harmony folk -- feel reminiscent of the original Newport Folk festival. That one band is so comfortable across such a wide and diverse musical spectrum makes them even more appealing live.

Since the last millennium the artistry of David Reed (aka Dr. Easy)has been earning respect from audiences and critics alike throughout the northeast USA, Europe and the Caribbean. A founding member of the seminal jam rock band, Max Creek in 1971, Reed has since developed into a delightful fingerstyle acoustic guitarist & multi-instrumentalist (ever heard a 'Reggae Banjo' or a conch shell 'TuTu'?), explorational singer/songwriter, way-cool whistler and seasoned performer. The good "Dakta" brings a smile to the face and a tap to the toe of young and old with his sensational blend of rockin' NewFolk, rompin' ragtime, snappy country blues, inspired original songs and wonderous interpretations of many other popular artists' songs . . . all served up with a dash of spicy, sun-drenched Caribbean reggae & calypso.

A multi-instrumentalist, Kennedy plays all kinds of music delivered authentically with energy. Whether he's playing smooth blues licks, or twangy telecaster lines, Connor Kennedy will leave your ears wanting more. Performing with Connor are two young musicians of a rare caliber for their ages. On bass, is 18-year old Lincoln Center award winning bassist Shawn Ferraro. Shawn was awarded Most Outstanding Bass Soloist at the 2009 Essentially Ellington competition. On the drums, is the soulful 15-year old Lee Falco. Lee, like Levon Helm, is a singing drummer; a rarity in todays music scene. Together, the three voices of Connor, Shawn, and Lee produce wonderful three part harmonies remeniscent of The Band, and The Grateful Dead.

Since Christopher Robin picked up the guitar, his musical roots have included personal lessons from artists like Michael Hedges and Gregg Allman – yet his tone, chord structure, feel, searing solos and sense of melody remain truly his own. "All of my songs are true stories. I've had residency in seven different states, and there's been a lot of stories. They're about all the things I've done, from sailing on tall ships to being a cowboy in Colorado, to playing for Kings, Queens, Princes and Princesses in Europe and the Hells Angels." Christopher Robin's live performances ~ sharing the stage or recording with a long list of artists including Gregg Allman, Robert Cray, Lee Sklar, The Marshall Tucker Band, Del McCoury and Peter Yarrow ~ have earned him a reputation as a high-energy crowd pleaser.

Grammy-nominated guitarist Gil Parris is one of the most acclaimed & versatile guitar masters of his generation. His style of playing defies and transcends all genres. Gil frequently performs with Yankees outfielder (and guitarist) Bernie Williams and has shared the stage with Paul Shaffer and trumpet legend Randy Brecker. "...like his heroes Pat Metheny, David Sanborn and George Benson, Parris stands out not only for his distinctive tone and passionate style but also in his effortless ability to let his fingers do the singing..." Gil's band features equally incredible musicians, Kip Saphos on bass and Joe Piteo on drums.

Tonight, Gil is joined by Tommy "Pipes" McDonnell, a great vocalist who's performed with the original Blues Brothers Band and was a featured singer in the movie "Blues Brothers 2000". He's also shared the stage with a host of other musical greats including Eric Clapton, BB King & Al Green.

"...Jennings has an undeniable knack for catchy melodies. This is evident throughout, but particularly on album closer "When My Mind Starts To Go.
