Dave Murphy
Acoustic, Singer-Songwriter
Taste Budd's Chocolate and Coffee Cafe
40 West Market Street
Red Hook, NY   See Map
Murphy can really pull it off in a live performance and his songs resonate with honesty, intelligence, vulnerability and a sense of hard earned wisdom, yet never come across as heavy-handed. He takes you on a lyrical pilgrimage through the American soul, whether he’s telling the story of an aging Viet Nam era war widow in “Chesapeake” or sharing his own deeply personal journey with addiction in “the Bottom”. But just when you think things may be getting a bit too serious Murphy belts out “My Garden State” his tongue and cheek ode to New Jersey. Murphy strives to peel away the layers and go deeper in search of that place where the truth lives, exposing it, often from a unique and unexpected perspective.

They say she "has a voice like Jewel with a touch of Jazz." Cassandrea Frake's songwriting is creative, touching and uniquely original. Influences include Ella Fitzgerald, Joni Mitchell, John Mayer and Nora Jones. Her song, "Like the Breeze," is a folksy, jazzy, love-tribute. The love theme runs deep in her music and even inspired her to start playing guitar. In her interview on lohud.com's The Listening Room, Cassandra said she began writing music "...to impress somebody--one of the guys I had a crush on--but that guy fell through, and the music lasted." We're glad it did.

Anyway, this is a brand-new venue for me; not sure they've ever had music there before, so I'm honored to be their debut performer. Come and experience history in the making. Get ready to Rock
with The New Guys Band
Rock (classic), Motown/R&B, and Covers
STARR LOUNGE @ Starr Place Restaurant
6417 Montgomery Street
Rhinebeck, NY   See Map
The New Guys are a hard working four piece band, playing a mix of tunes from many genre's, including Blues, R&B, and Classic Rock. They recently added a great guitar player, Bobby Mazz to the mix, opening up a whole new type of sound and expression for us. They also have been fortunate to have Gary Brooks sit in with them for the last few gigs on keys and sax. Recently, someone at a club said to them "You guys sound like a freight train in a hurricane!" That pretty much sums it up. They have been playing clubs throughout the Hudson Valley for a few years now bringing their unique music style that is refreshing and long overdue. Time to party & dance to their rocking sound at our downstairs fireside lounge. See ya there.

A Night of Smooth R&B
with The Rhonda Denét Project
R & B, Soul, Smooth Jazz
12 Grapes Music & Wine Bar
12 North Division Street
Peekskill, NY   See Map
It's said that "Denét can bottom out like Chaka and shares air with Aretha." Described as a virtuoso who lends her vocal flair to every song she sings, Rhonda is a soulfully gifted singer whose influences range from Jazz to R&B to 80's standards, and she even adds her own inspirational ballads. With a repertoire that spans from Ella Fitzgerald, Etta James and Anita Baker to Stevie Wonder to the pop band Journey, Rhonda puts a soulful spin on everything she sings, with a voice that will take your breath away.

The Rhonda Denét Project includes the "vocal pyrotechnics" of Miss Rhonda Denet along with Dave McDowell on sax and flute, Anthony Candullo on guitar and bass and Paul Garafola on drums. The chemistry, the soul, the sheer joy that comes from the stage as these guys perform is electrifying.
