with Steve Chizmadia
Singer-Songwriter
12 Grapes Music & Wine Bar
12 North Division Street
Peekskill, NY   See Map
"Country flavored folk steeped in Texas and Louisiana with New York grit." That about sums up Steve Chizmadia, a songwriter from Long Island who has the Long Horns of Texas in his soul. Each song tells a story, and brings us to places across the country in his own endearing, Americana style. His songs have received some acclaim over the years. Steve is a 2003 Kerrville New Folk finalist and in 2005 his song "This Old Town" received honorable mention from the Woody Guthrie Folk Festival. He has showcased at Northeast Regional Folk Alliance in New York, and "It Is What It Is" was #12 on the folk D.J. charts in 2007.

Whether he's singing pull-at-your-heartstrings tunes like "It's Always Texas" or economic-comic-relief songs like "The Wall Street Fat Cat Tax Payer Bailout Blues", Steve Chizmadia is a songwriter not to be missed.

Jann Klose’s new album REVERIE is fast becoming a critical and radio favorite. Now living in New York City, he spends most of his time on the road. Jann has collaborated on stage with Renaissance's Annie Haslam and John Tout, plus Marty Stuart, Roger McGuinn, and Rosanne Cash. He has opened for Elliott Murphy, Jonathan Edwards, Strawbs, Old School Freight Train, and Rusted Root's Michael Glabicki.

Jim Dawson is one of the great singer/songwriters of our generation with a large body of intensely loyal admirers of his songwriting and his amazing voice. He's warm, genuine and personable, and his magic is especially powerful in concert. With a recording career that has continued to grow since the 1970s, Jim's songs have been recorded by artists as diverse as Mary Travers and Elmo (of Sesame Street). Dan Aquilante, in his New York Post review, hears in Dawson "an appealing Everyman quality in his supple voice and in acoustic guitar work" and "the musical tradition of Harry Chapin and James Taylor."

Atmo-Dub-Funk, Brother HijinX delivers that and much more with their latest CD "Brother HijinX." Their self-titled disc is filled with sounds very familiar to that of 311 and other bands of that genre. The vocal styling of Anthony Robustelli is reminiscent of Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman, Anthony Kiedis (same first name says it all.) Highlights of his vocal tracks can be heard on "Chrome" and "Available." There is also some cool, funky guitar work by John Caban on "Available" as well. One of the great things about this disc is the wide number of top session musicians who played on it. With bassists/drummers who played for Govt. Mule, Black Crowes, Rufus Wainright, and Billy Cobham, how can you be let down? All reggae/rock fans will enjoy this record not only for its songwriting, but also for the amazing musicianship that is featured.

Hey I'm Janette :) I'm 19, I'm just a girl who loves music. I've been singing for as long as I can remember and playing guitar for a year and half. I've also played fiddle 5 years. Just recently started the harmonica. I write songs. My absolute favorite kind of music is country. I'm currently a freshman at Dutchess Community College in NY. Majoring in Communications Media Arts and I'm gonna transfer to a school in Nashville, TN next year. I'm so excited, I look forward to meeting other artists, songwriters, and friends.

Railroad Earth’s music is driven by the remarkable songs of front-man, Todd Sheaffer, and is delivered with seamless arrangements and superb musicianship courtesy of all six band members. They can jam with the best of them, but they’re not a jam band. They’re bluegrass influenced, but they use drums and amplifiers (somewhat taboo in the bluegrass world).

"Even in the new millenium, Railroad Earth's instantly classic sounding songs and timeless vocals could sound at home in any generation." (Felton Pruitt - XM Satellite Radio)

Blues guitarist-singer Debbie Davies first gained widespread notice during her three years with the late Albert Collins' band, The Icebreakers. Her roles included solo & rhythm guitar, vocalist and guitar "duelist" with Collins, who called her "a great guitar player who sure can play the blues." She has worked with blues icons like B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Robert Cray, Koko Taylor and John Mayall (who gave her a rare and unequivocal endorsement). Her gritty vocals and searing guitar work have drawn comparisons to Eric Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughan.

Another "Unplugged Sunday" to help you chill before the work week.

Mike Clifford (pictured here) has recently returned from a tour in Australia, where he was featured on a radio show there. His debut CD features performances by Tim Luntzel (Norah Jones, Bright Eyes), Tony Mason (Joan Osbourne, Martha Wainwright, Bo Diddley) and John Dryden (The Little Willies). Clifford has performed with a number of world renowned artists, including Gavin DeGraw and Richie Havens. We look forward to Mike's return to our stage.

Lisa Frieder is an amazing artist and songwriter. Her lyrics are filled with emotion, and the more we get to know her songs, the more we love them. Keep an eye out for Lisa, she's going to be famous some day.

Keven Haden is new to the 12 Grapes stage. Kevin studied vocal performance at NYU, and has written a number of compositions. His music has "shades of" Tracy Chapman, Prince, Seal and Tool.
