PETER CALO, also DUSTY
Singer-Songwriter, Roots Music
Towne Crier Cafe
130 Route 22
Pawling, NY   See Map
Perhaps most recognized for his work with Carly Simon, PETER CALO has also recorded and performed with such legendary Grammy Award winning artists as James Taylor, Hall & Oats and renowned record producer Phil Ramone, to mention only a few. "Peter's guitar needs no limelight. Peter is an extreme virtuoso, and he's so easygoing, which keeps things relaxed onstage. He can improvise better than anyone, I think, and when he solos it always seems to be a natural thing." - Carly Simon (New York Times interview) "Peter Calo...is a masterful guitarist" - The Boston Globe

Recipe for DUSTY: Start with three veteran songstresses (Deborah Berg, Sherryl Marshall, and Lesley Miller) blending close harmonies and vocal styles with their original songs, as well as classic popular songs. Add their country-swing backing band and mix in a touch of Island reggae, and you have the recipe for Dusty.

Not just another benefit, but an opportunity to give back to one of Woodstock’s most benevolent of souls.

Everybody knows Mike Esposito’s story: Rock Star to Priest to Bicycle Guru, Painter. What we, the friends of Michael Esposito, have just learned, is that he may be losing his shirt. He and his friend, Lou, need to prevent foreclosure on their house, so we’re organizing this benefit to remedy the situation. We’re hosting some of the area’s favorite musicians: special guests and gurus. Art, musical instruments, memorabilia and brand-spankin’ new stuff will be for sale. There’s a chance to win Mike’s “God’s Eye Cloud Bank.”

We’re suggesting a $20 donation. Expect the unexpected ~ all of it good!

If you cannot attend but would like to donate, please send checks to:

I swear I am not making this up. According to an organization known as the AOBA (that'd be the Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association) this very weekend has been designated National Alpaca Farm Days. Now, I don't think this was established by an act of congress or anything like that, but still. So, there is an alpaca farm known as Shalimar Alpacas of Warwick, and they (the folks who run the farm, actually--not the alpacas) have decided to participate in the festivities. And, furthermore, they (uh... the folks who run the farm) have given yours truly the honor of providing the soundtrack for the day. Well, for both days, in fact. It's rain or shine (shine would be nice, wouldn't it?). So, if you're curious, as I am, about how one might commemorate National Alpaca Farm Day, then it will behoove you to come and see what it's all about.

Act 1: Bob Malone - “Bob Malone [delivers] pulsating, roaring keyboard work that grabs you and shakes you until you cry for mercy." Keyboard Magazine - Bob Malone is an astounding piano man, and a tremendously gifted singer/songwriter whose music merges strains of honky-tonk New Orleans, Memphis soul, Chicago blues, East Coast rock ‘n’ roll, all rendered in a voice that marries the husky growl of Dr. John with the spirit of Elton John. Act 2: The Jay Ottaway Band - “It is rare to see blues and jazz so closely intertwined as by the Jay Ottaway Band.” Koerner Stadt-Anzeiger - The Jay Ottaway Band is an alternative-blues rock band fronted by Jay Ottaway who cut his musical teeth in Nashville as a singer-songwriter and producer. The band combines rocking blues riffs, great lyrics and heavy jazz influences.

One day back in 1970, 20-year-old Rick Estrin had the opportunity to play harmonica with Muddy Waters and his band in Chicago's South Side. During the break, Muddy called Estrin over, shook his finger in his face, and shouted "You outta sight boy! You play like a MAN boy! You got that sound boy, I KNOW that sound when I hear it, that's MY sound!" Today, singer/harmonica player/songwriter Rick Estrin ranks among the very best harp players in the blues world. His work on the reeds is at once deep in the tradition of harmonica masters Sonny Boy Williamson II & Little Walter Jacobs, while at the same time pushing that tradition forward. For more than 30 years, Rick fronted Little Charlie & The Nightcats, featuring guitarist Little Charlie Baty. But now, with Baty's recent retirement from touring, Estrin has full center spotlight with the Nightcats. Rick Estrin & The Nightcats' sound, while still swinging the blues, is a harmonica-driven, rocking, guitar-fueled rave-up.

Alpaca Fest!

Shalimar Alpacas of Warwick
164 East Ridge Road
Warwick, NY   See Map

Drew Bordeaux (pictured here) is a highly accomplished singer/songwriter and musician whose music comes from the heart. He performs soulful originals as well as cover songs. On occasion, Drew will treat us to his electric fiddle, for a unique sound that is truly inspirational. (As a wine bar, how could we not love a guy named Bordeaux?)

Ann Gulian is a keyboard player and singer with an amazing quality to her voice. Her vocals are strong and her songwriting is poignant and touching. Join us as we welcome these three gifted artists to our stage.

Emerging Artists @ Alchemy

Americana, Singer-Songwriter
Alchemy of Woodstock
297 Tinker Street
Woodstock, NY   See Map
She's been described as what Fiona Apple would have been had she grown up in the south and been given a guitar instead of a piano. Her bluesy Americana sound is both original and radio-friendly. No matter what you're in the mood for, Andi Rae is sure to satisfy.

Andi Rae is often asked how such a big voice comes out of such a little girl. Katie Agresta, her voice teacher and (coincidentally Ms. Lauper's teacher as well), has been helpful in that department. Katie is also the teacher to the likes of Jon Bon Jovi and Annie Lennox. But also, Andi says, "Just because I'm small doesn't mean I don't have a whole lot to say, and a lot of passion to say it with." Take a listen to one of her newest songs, "Ooh Ah," and you will know this is true.

You can find "Ooh Ah," a mixture of other gut-wrenching and inspiring songs, and Andi's powerful, sultry voice on "I Guess I Am a Sinner."

They're back together again, but only for a precious few, not-to-be-missed concerts. Amy Fradon and Leslie Ritter's luscious vocal harmonies as session singers for Orleans, Rick Danko, John Sebastian and Dr. John led to their twelve-year collaboration as a duo. As singer-songwriters they recorded six albums and reached their commercial apex nationally with their rendition of the Yes classic "Your Move," which topped the Billboard charts and aired as a video on VH1. Joining them for this special reunion performance will be Grammy-nominated producer and bassist Scott Petito and guitarist and vocalist Helen Avakian. For More Info - 845.679.6608
