The RoostBodles Opera House
39 Main Street
Chester, NY   See Map
The Roost is a heart & soul Rock and Roll band whose influences are not of these times. The music is no frills and straight ahead with plenty of melody for good measure.

The band counts much of the English blues and rock bands and singers of the seventies as influences, along with the great American soul music burgeoning in the sixties.

The Roost plays for the love of it with no excuses. The idea for the band was born out of a group of friends meeting every now and again and playing what ever came to mind. It was obvious they were all thinking the same thing. Three of those friends started writing together, recording together and before they knew it, The Roost came to be!

WOODSTOCK FRINGE presents "The Songs of Joe Veillette and Jerry Mitnick.” Joe and Jerry offer two different and highly complementary approaches to songwriting. Joe is drawn to the theme of love (or lack of love), while Jerry is not. The common thread binding the songs of these Brooklyn-born songwriters is their desire to capture different people and moments in a way that a listener can actually feel. Area music lovers are well acquainted with Veillette and Mitnick from their work with the Phantoms, Blind Mice and the JV Squad and will appreciate this rare opportunity to hear their original songs. $25 adults, $20 students & seniors, Festival Pass $75. Gil toured as lead guitarist for Blood, Sweat & Tears, and has played with pop & jazz legends such as David Sanborn, Bob James, Will Lee, Eric Alexander, Bob Malach, David Clayton-Thomas, Toni Braxton, Chuck Rainey to name but a few. Gil performs at many prestigious NYC clubs like BB King's.
