This is what happens when a talented singer/songwriter/ multi-instrumentalist taps into the deep roots of American music with a pop sensibility to create original music that is as entertaining as it is sincere and heartfelt. Raised on classical, pop, folk, and rock music in historic Wethersfield, Connecticut (one of the hippest places to be in the 1600’s), Frances Kramer was trained on piano and oboe and self-taught on guitar, banjo, and voice. After making an escape from Bryn Mawr College, she found herself singing country and folk tunes and playing the banjo for a meager living followed by singing and playing guitar in rock bands for no living. While living in a converted school bus camper in the northeast corner of the state, she began to compose poetry and to write songs and instrumental music.

Doors At 7pm; Show At 8pm Tickets $25 When Julian Lage emerged on the music scene 13 years ago, the young San Francisco Bay Area-based musician was not only deemed a guitar-playing prodigy, but he was also offered record deals on numerous occasions. Playing a unique style that melded blues, classical, folk and jazz influences, Lage decided to wait for the right moment to document his own music. He chooses instead to become a sideman with established instrumentalists like Gary Burton and to collaborate with contemporaries such as pianist Taylor Eigsti. Along the way, Lage received recognition from musical luminaries, including Herbie Hancock and Béla Fleck, and patiently waited until he was ready to go into a studio with a band of like-minded players to realize his own musical vision.

Friday 9:00 pm | PETER TORK (of the Monkees) & Shoe Suede Blues Blues | Towne Crier Cafe 130 Route 22 Pawling, NY See Map |
Long before THE MONKEES, PETER TORK was a well-respected musician/artist in the burgeoning New York folk scene. Peter's gift for playing a plethora of instruments generated high demand for his services as a sideman/back-up artist. Peter knocked around for several hungry years in the mid-'60s, 'hanging' and performing with the likes of John Phillips, Steven Stills and Dave Van Ronk. The fateful call, which would change Peter's life forever, came in June of 1965: Friend and confidant Steven Stills, not quite hitting the mark with his own audition for The Monkees TV series, rang his buddy Peter, urging him to give it a go. Music legend Jimi Hendrix jammed with Peter on several occasions, calling him "The most talented Monkee." More recently, Tork's love affair with the blues resulted in Shoe Suede Blues - Peter's band of seasoned pros that deliver a mixture that is heartfelt, soulful, uplifting and quite unforgettable ...divined from their vision of what music is all about.
