Holy Cross Monastery
Route 9W (1615 Broadway)
West Park, NY   See Map
Kairos: A Consort of Singers will present J. S. Bach's Easter Cantata No. 4, "Christ lag in Todesbanden" (Christ lay in death's bonds) under the direction of Dr. Edward Lundergan. The concert will also feature Bach's exuberant choral work, Sanctus in D Major, BWV 238, and an instrumental work performed by Hudson Valley Philharmonic concertmaster Carole Cowan. The cantata and other works are accompanied by chamber orchestra and will be performed as part of a choral evensong service.

The performance is part of an ongoing Bach Cantata series presented by Kairos at Holy Cross Monastery and is the second in the 2009 Bach Cantata Series. There is no admission charge; freewill donations to support the Bach Cantata Series will be gratefully accepted. The cantata performance is supported in part by a grant from the Dutchess County Arts Council.
