A rare, acoustic performance by The subdudes.

In 1987, four musicians got together for what they envisioned would be a one-time performance at Tipitina’s in New Orleans. It was a night of mostly acoustic music – sparse instrumentation with a strong emphasis on songwriting and vocal harmonies. The show far exceeded expectations, and on that March night the subdudes were born.

Nearly 10 years later, after five well-received albums and several years of hard touring, the subdudes called it quits.

The Subdudes draw most of their inspiration from the sounds of their native New Orleans, blending blues, gospel, funk, and R&B with their own harmony vocals; their sound is also notable for the band's substitution of a tambourine player for a drummer.

Tonight, we'll be featuring -- O.K., let's face it, even though it's a coffeehouse, we're NOT playing anything where you NEED a cup of coffee just to stay awake. We're claiming some floor space, rolling in the amps and drum kit, plugging in, and making sure there's a whole lotta shakin' goin' on -- so don't say we didn't give you advance notice, Ishmael. Furthermore . . . you will have a good time.

An all-ages show, nice for those who prefer a non-alcoholic environment. NO COVER

And of course, we raise our collective coffee cups to toast and give a special thank-you to the New Paltz Muddy Cup for their continuing support of our music.

Lisa Dudley has a passionate following of soldiers and veterans. Perhaps a signature song that best identifies who she is would be "Angel On My Shoulder" which is her most requested song. Her loyal following of fans love to hear her sing the songs that celebrate life, love and loss including an inspirational collection of "soft gospel". Songs like "Praise God for The Rain", "Use Me In A Mighty Way", and "I Will Rise Up Singing" have become standards in churches where she plays. With songs like "Twenty-One Guns","Broken Purple Heart", and "You Do The Job Right", the men in her audience - from soldiers to senators - get a feeling of empathy and appreciation seldom enjoyed in their own lives. The women in the audience also appreciate songs like "She Bought Your Love","Gotta Cut You Loose", and "Dangerous Curves" - a boot-stomping song about the power of a woman's body - which gives them the feeling that someone understands what's important to them too.

Singer/Songwriter Showcase
with Marc Von Em, Anthony Melillo, Joseph Melillo
Acoustic, Blues
12 Grapes Music & Wine Bar
12 North Division Street
Peekskill, NY   See Map
Marc (pictured here) has been described as soulful, funky, sometimes bluesy, sometimes haunting, always sincere. One reviewer writes: "... I can genuinely say if you haven't heard or seen him live, you are only cheating yourself." Marc has performed with Rob Thomas of Matchbox Twenty, and had appearances on Letterman and Leno.

Anthony is an acoustic artist, singer/songwriter and composer. He is often compared to an early John Mayer and Chris Carraba of Dashboard Confessional. His new CD "Just Getting Started" is already gaining attention on the music scene.

Also performing tonight is Anthony's brother, Joseph, an acoustic artist who has a powerful voice, a soulful delivery and an accomplished repertoire. It's always an enjoyable evening when these two young men are on stage.
