Formed in Sleepy Hollow, New York in the late 90's, Gandalf Murphy & the Slambovian Circus of Dreams is one of the best known and loved bands in their home state, singled out as Hudson Valley Magazine's "Band of the Year" for the past 3 years. On stage they create an enchanting atmosphere, using traditional folk instruments, tasty electric guitar and the distinctive singing and songwriting of Joziah Longo. Citing influences as diverse as Hank Williams, Dylan, Bowie, Incredible String Band and early Pink Floyd, Longo describes the band's music as "punk-classical-hillbilly-Floyd", a mental rollercoaster of whimsical, thought-provoking songs.

The Judith Tulloch Band performs a blend of music that is adult contemporary, jazzy, acoustic rock, with a hint of world music ambiance. Strong vocals, guitar, bass, keyboards, percussion, flutes, and soprano sax drive this music, which has been described as world-pop-fusion with a jazzy edge
We get many cd's sent to Dockside each week, with the expectation that we will say yes to a date to play here. Its not easy to say no to somebody, but once in a while we get a cd that "smacks us in the face". Frances Kramer's cd showed us what happens when a talented singer/songwriter/muti-instrumentalist taps into the deep roots of American music with a pop sensability to create original music that is as entertaining as it is sincere and heartfelt. Check her and her band out this evening. There is no cover, but come and enjoy and show your appreciation.
Jazz Vocalist Karrin Allyson will appear at A Place for Jazz on Friday November 7, at 8 PM at the First Unitarian Society, 1221 Wendell Ave, Schenectady. Whether in the bomb shelters "Miklats" in Israel or summer camps in Palestine, Human Rights Events, Colleges, Festivals or Venues around the world SONiA is always striving to disappear fear and spread her message of Peace. In fall 2007 SONiA released a new CD with her band 'disappear fear' to the world (al mundo).
An acoustic/electric trio that is, at its heart, the core of a bluegrass band: Mandolin-bass-guitar, Brewflies combine traditional old time Appalachian string-band tunes; acoustic folk songs of artist like John Prine, James Taylor and Randy Newman; New Orleans blues-rock-boogie; alt-country: Jazz-Latino-Brazilian choro, and folk-rock rootsy Americana reminiscent of Dylan and the Band, The Nitty Gritty Dirt band, and the Jayhawks. There is no cover for this evenings performance. Your generosityis always apprciated. Dockside is located just 3.8 miles off the Bryant Pond Road exit of the Taconic Parkway.
Kenny B and the Temple Dudes will be performing at Noble Coffee Roaster's Cafe in Cambell Hall on Saturday November 8th. This will be an "acoustic" version of the band.
