Hastings-on-Hudson, NY   See Map
Tony Dekker, the singer/songwriter behind Great Lake Swimmers, released his third full-length album “Ongiara” in 2007. Like the first two critically acclaimed albums (”Great Lake Swimmers” in 2003, and “Bodies and Minds” in 2005), “Ongiara” continues to explore the worlds of indie folk, roots music and alt-country pop, with a focus on lyrics and the craft of songwriting. The new songs are largely inspired by a number of themes, including Canada’s majestic natural environment and our reciprocal relationship with the land; grace and understanding in life journeys; and the cycle of living and dying. Great Lake Swimmers have been compared to Nick Drake, Iron and Wine, Red House Painters, and Neil Young. They were awarded the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation’s Galaxie Rising Star Award in March 2005 and were voted Favourite Folk/Roots Artist at the 2004 Canadian Independent Music Awards. The band was recently chosen to serve as opening act for Robert Plant and Allison Krause.

Beam aboard Woodstock's coolest new underground venue for a night of great music.

Review of Gigantic Inflation of the Ego by SPIV

"If you believe the best rock comes from the UK but you don't know SPIV—a four-piece, Anglo-American, Woodstock-based band known for its complex, trippy tunes—this CD's for you. However, if you're in the know on SPIV, take heed—this CD's danceable, drivable, dreamable. SPIV (English slang for a man who lives by his wits) updates '80s Brit rock with energetic, multilayered songs. Listen for traces of Bowie, Gang of Four, Joy Division, Psychedelic Furs, Pink Floyd, even Gong. SPIV certainly maintains an air of mystery—the CD merely lists 10 tracks and its appearances are underground. Nonetheless, SPIV's wide following appreciates its tightly woven threads of two guitars—one spacey, psychedelic; the other relentless, urgent—and lyrics that are detached, edgy, and pointed." —Susan Piperato, Chronogram magazine

Clawhammer banjo player / evocative vocalist Abigail balances her affinity for Chinese culture with a love of traditional American music in her compositions. Banjo legend BÈla Fleck has virtually reinvented his chosen instrument through a remarkable career that has taken him all over the musical map, from New Grass Revival to solo projects to collaborations with greats of the bluegrass, jazz, rock, country, and classical worlds. Reddan Brothers
Warwick natives, John & Chris Reddan have been studying & preparing themselves for this chapter of their life their whole lives. Both boys were astute in the subject of music at an early age and found the object of their desires, The Blues. John, the older brother gravitated to the guitar and found the teacher of a lifetime, the incredible Bill Perry, a resident of Chester, the Hudson Valley and the world of the Blues. Chris, the younger of the two, made the drums his instrument and at the ripe old age of 17 went on the road with the Popa Chubby Blues Band traveling the world and acquiring the experience of a seasoned musician. They have combined their talents and added the consistent and melodic rhythm of Mike Garofalo on bass guitar to complete the sound. And what a sound! Join us for an evening of rockin' blues, the way it should be played!

Son Lewis
Son began playing Blues guitar in the 1960’s, influenced greatly by artists as diverse as Robert Johnson, Hubert Sumlin (whom he accompanied on stage in December 2006), Otis Rush, and Elmore James. His own particular guitar style developed under the guidance of Blues guitarist Danny Kalb (founder of the Blues Project, a seminal Bluesband of the 1960's). Lewis' reputation has been built upon solid live solo performances and with his own SON LEWIS BluesBand, which has featured former members of MINK DEVILLE, THE RICKI LEE JONES BAND, THE JITTERZ, EXUMA, IMPACT, THE SHOTS, and CASTLE BROWNE. As a solo artist, performing the traditional country Blues, and with his band, rocking juke joints with electric blues, Son has become known as a faithful, and loving interpreter of this nearly lost musical art form. In live performance, TV, radio, and on recordings, Son Lewis has proved to audiences everywhere that the Blues is a vibrant, and exciting form of musical entertainment!

If you enjoy fine guitar pickin, smooth vocals and gutsy ballads, then the Robert Hill Band is what the doctor ordered. His music is like a fine perscription of aged bourbon that's been mellowed in a seasoned oak barrel. He is a versatile guitarist who uses layering, tone and texture to keep the audience rivited in their seats. His background from growing up in Arkansas has instilled in him a unique gumbo of musical styles; urban and deep Delta Blues, bluegrass, oldtime country, zydeco, ragtime, cowpunk, gospel, even a little polka. Johnny Cash was also born there, what else needs to be said? There is no cover for this evenings performance, your generosity is always appreciated. Dockside is located just 3.8 miles off the Bryant Pond Road exit of the Taconic Parkway.

ROBIN HALPIN's musical qualities include spark, fire, wit and poignance. She can make you cry and she can make you laugh with her tales of a childhood swirled into a modern day potion of sanguine melodies and pulsating rhythms. Halpin transforms her unpredictable adventures into marvelous, heroic, humble musical essays. Her voice is uplifting, firm, optimistic and articulate. Robin grew up listening to Motown and jazz piano. Her earliest musical influences include Oscar Peterson, Joni Mitchell, Bonnie Raitt, Nina Simone, Donny Hathaway and Nancy Wilson. While with Tommy Boy Records in the early '80s, she co-wrote and co-produced three LPs with the Force M.D.'s, a do-wop hip hop group who had a Top Ten R&B hit Robin co-wrote: Tears. She has also arranged horns for James Brown, Africa Bambaataa, and has remixed for Island and Warner Brothers.
