Louisiana's finest, the Grammy-nominated Pine Leaf Boys have made a name for presenting their own inimitable brand of Cajun music with youthful exuberance. Hailing from southwest Louisiana, the Pine Leaf Boys are known for their wild shows & thoughtful arrangements -- reviving old fashion dance hall standards as well as many of the more obscure songs of past masters. Breathing new life into cajun music, they have been described as "the link that connects the young and the old generations"..."the best new, energetic and fun Cajun band in a very long time."

150 Route 17-K
Newburgh, NY   See Map
The Sugar Beats will be back at Gail's Place once again after journeying north to Pine Plain's Backyard Garden for a delightful outdoors party last Saturday and just before opening for Eric Burdon & the Animals at Newburgh's Watefront Festival on Sunday August 31st. These guys are the Hudson Valley's best 60-70's Rock/Psychedelic Era band. One guy at the Backyard Garden commented that their rendition of the Rolling Stones "Paint It Black" was so good that before he entered the place he thought that there was a DJ spinning discs and then he saw the band playing it and was just blown away. So if you want to get blown away by this and other incredible selections from that era, join the crowd at Gail's Place this Friday night. Come experience what those who have seen/heard them play rave about. Then when anyone asks you Jimi Hendrix's question, "Have you ever been experienced?", you can answer, "I have...ah, let me prove it to ya!"

Cloud 9, Dirty Bath Water, Josh TangneyBodles Opera House
39 Main Street
Chester, NY   See Map
Cloud 9 has recently grown into their own. With a style of music that is equally satisfying on both cd or live at shows. Comprised of six musicians whos goal is to stretch genres and create a new vibe of music that lends equally to tight instrumental as well as catchy word play. With shows that drive hard energy anthems combined with mellow mood crowd pleasers the band has constructed a sound that has made the music experience fun again. Cloud 9 is going places, this is not a pompus statement from the boys but rather a true to life claim of there recent influx of shows reaching as far as Texas. Though the band is in its infancy as far as it's life span all members are seasoned vets of other projects and together deliver a sound that is catchy and new. Still bein easy but now in your neck of the woods.

Dirty Bath Water is one of the most diverse, original, and exciting bands you will hear today. They play everything from Rock to Hip Hop, from jazz to Acoustic Ballads – all original music. And this band is all about the live performance. They can keep the party pumping, or bring it down to a slow and mellow vibe. Unique individual personalities, great showmanship, and refreshingly diverse music – it all adds up to the total package. And most importantly, DBW has fun when they perform, and this vibe carries over into the audience. They are not plagued by the emotionless, over-practiced yet artificial sound of many other bands. Their music is tight, yet they are loose enough to let the emotion of the crowd shape their performance.

Johnny A. is widely regarded as one of America's finest contemporary guitarists. Gibson thinks so -- their Custom Shop designed a Signature Edition guitar per his specific requests, which placed him in an exclusive club that included legends like BB King, Wes Montgomery, Chet Atkins, Joe Perry, Pat Martino and Les Paul himself. Johnny A's guitar is his voice. The warmth of its tones and allure of melodies summon images of late-night bars, moonlight along a waterfront, mysterious candlelit encounters -- all without so much as a peep from any vocalist. He is being recognized by an ever-widening circle of high-prestige gigs with the likes of B.B. King, Robert Cray and Jeff Beck, plus an appearance at Eric Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival in 2004. He has also shared stages with Aerosmith, the Cars, Cheap Trick, Bad Co., the Smithereens, Dave Edmunds, Bob Seger, David Johansen, Yes, the Brian Setzer Orchestra and Hootie & the Blowfish.
