Backyard Garden
Route 199
Pine Plains, NY   See Map
In her song "Woodstock", probably made more famous by CSN&Y, Joni Mitchell says, "and we've got to get ourselves back to the garden", which she most likely meant the Garden of Eden, which was the original state of Paradise before the fall of man. Well figuratively speaking the Sugar Beats are going back to the garden, the Backyard Garden in Pine Plains, NY. This is a beautiful backyard garden atmosphere, yes it's outdoors, with tables, flora (flowers/plants) and night lights. Just the perfect atmosphere for you to let your mind be filled with the 60'-70's Rock/Psychedelic sounds of the Sugar Beats. So come soak up the atmosphere of fun/food/drinks & music this Saturday evening in Pine Plains and "float your sweet little mind", as Jimi Hendrix used to say, to a place and time where the mind and music frolicked together in their own mystical playground.

MILTON, also special guest, JULIA JOSEPH
Singer-Songwriter, Acoustic
Towne Crier Cafe
130 Route 22
Pawling, NY   See Map
Milton is a New York-based singer/songwriter and the leader of the Milton band, a lively, rootsy six-piece group. Milton's regular New York-based band is an international outfit that has come together over years of club gigs, and plays together like a family act. Already well known for his radio hit on New York City's WFUV, Milton released his second, self-titled CD to wide critical praise in November 2006. With the help of a busy live performance schedule and frequent airplay, Milton and the Milton Band have seen their audience increase rapidly in recent months.

Spanning the genres of folk, jazz and blues, the real signature of JULIA JOSEPH's sound is her drop dead gorgeous voice - so moving it could almost overshadow the fact that she is a great songwriter. Her songs are universally accessible and she sings them in a way that makes each audience member feel as if they are the only person in the room with her.

The Sugar Beats will be back at Gail's Place once again after journeying north to Pine Plain's Backyard Garden for a delightful outdoors party last Saturday and just before opening for Eric Burdon & the Animals at Newburgh's Watefront Festival on Sunday August 31st. These guys are the Hudson Valley's best 60-70's Rock/Psychedelic Era band. One guy at the Backyard Garden commented that their rendition of the Rolling Stones "Paint It Black" was so good that before he entered the place he thought that there was a DJ spinning discs and then he saw the band playing it and was just blown away. So if you want to get blown away by this and other incredible selections from that era, join the crowd at Gail's Place this Friday night. Come experience what those who have seen/heard them play rave about. Then when anyone asks you Jimi Hendrix's question, "Have you ever been experienced?", you can answer, "I have...ah, let me prove it to ya!"
