Temple Dudes

Ken Blumberg (KennyB) and Cantor Barry Kanarek met a few years ago and started making music together. They performed as a duet at first playing both spiritual and secular music. Bruce Pollack, Cantor Amy Kanarek and Rose Pollack then came into the picture and thus “The Temple Dudes” were born. They perform wonderful renditions of many songs that everyone loves. If you want to hear a beautiful blend of folk and rock including Beatles/Lennon, Neil Young, Simon and Garfunkel, James Taylor and Tom Petty to name a few, then this is a show not to be missed.

HOTHOUSE FLOWERS
Rock (modern), Acoustic
Towne Crier Cafe
130 Route 22
Pawling, NY   See Map
The Hothouse Flowers story is what legends are made of: busking on the streets of Dublin in 1985...attracting the attention of Bono and U2's Mother Records...creating a huge buzz with their expansive, passionate brand of Irish-rooted rock'n'soul...named "The Best Unsigned Band In Europe" by Rolling Stone...signing a deal with London Records...three albums...world tours...adulation...the whole nine yards! Then, in 1994, they decided to take a year off to try to tame the whirlwind that their lives had become -- a year which turned into several years. When they got back together, they decided to strip back down to the essentials, but have continued to rebuild and reinvent themselves. This is a rock band in love with their music -- completely comfortable with the many roots that influence their unique vibe.

with Waking Up East, Within The Walls
Bodles Opera House
39 Main Street
Chester, NY   See Map
Waking Up East all started when Lead singer/guitarist Jay Indorato (formally of Waking To Tedemption) moved to Monroe Ny in early 2007. Thanks to his father he met Bassist Tommy Morse (formally of T.O.R) and they quickly started working together. In July 2007 Jay and Tommy met Lead Guitarist Tom Hanley while working at an autobody shop in Monroe Ny. About a month later Tom Hanley asked Jay and Tommy to come jam with Drummer Christian Cotter and Waking Up East was born.

Opening the Show: Within the Walls is a five piece female fronted unsigned rock group exploring various genres (Power Metal, Alternative Metal, Prog Metal, Pop Punk, & Pop Rock). They blend epic melodic metal guitar and thundering upbeat rhythms, with catchy hooks and soaring vocals. Throw in a dash of complex guitar and keyboard driven prog sensibilities and you get WTW. This show: a set of acoustic songs with Monica, Mike and Justyn.

O.K., let's face it, we're only human, and we all make mistakes ! ! ! Usually we play the Muddy Cup on the 4th Friday of the month, but alas, there's been a scheduling conflict [gasp]. So take note that we're playing TONITE, the 22nd -- NOT the 29th.

BUT we're STILL NOT playing anything where you NEED a cup of coffee just to stay awake. We're claiming some floor space, rolling in the amps and drum kit, plugging in, and making sure there's a whole lotta shakin' goin' on -- so don't say we didn't give you advance notice, Hamlet. Furthermore . . . you will have a good time.

An all-ages show, nice for those who prefer a non-alcoholic environment. NO COVER

And of course, we raise our collective coffee cups to toast and give a special thank-you to the New Paltz Muddy Cup for their continuing support of our music.

Backyard Garden
Route 199
Pine Plains, NY   See Map
In her song "Woodstock", probably made more famous by CSN&Y, Joni Mitchell says, "and we've got to get ourselves back to the garden", which she most likely meant the Garden of Eden, which was the original state of Paradise before the fall of man. Well figuratively speaking the Sugar Beats are going back to the garden, the Backyard Garden in Pine Plains, NY. This is a beautiful backyard garden atmosphere, yes it's outdoors, with tables, flora (flowers/plants) and night lights. Just the perfect atmosphere for you to let your mind be filled with the 60'-70's Rock/Psychedelic sounds of the Sugar Beats. So come soak up the atmosphere of fun/food/drinks & music this Saturday evening in Pine Plains and "float your sweet little mind", as Jimi Hendrix used to say, to a place and time where the mind and music frolicked together in their own mystical playground.

MILTON, also special guest, JULIA JOSEPH
Singer-Songwriter, Acoustic
Towne Crier Cafe
130 Route 22
Pawling, NY   See Map
Milton is a New York-based singer/songwriter and the leader of the Milton band, a lively, rootsy six-piece group. Milton's regular New York-based band is an international outfit that has come together over years of club gigs, and plays together like a family act. Already well known for his radio hit on New York City's WFUV, Milton released his second, self-titled CD to wide critical praise in November 2006. With the help of a busy live performance schedule and frequent airplay, Milton and the Milton Band have seen their audience increase rapidly in recent months.

Spanning the genres of folk, jazz and blues, the real signature of JULIA JOSEPH's sound is her drop dead gorgeous voice - so moving it could almost overshadow the fact that she is a great songwriter. Her songs are universally accessible and she sings them in a way that makes each audience member feel as if they are the only person in the room with her.
