(JCs Drum School/NYdrum.com) offers Professional Private Drum lessons / Percussion Instruction to students of all ages and levels.
I have been teaching for 30 years. I am endorsed by CANOPUS DRUMS and AQUARIAN DRUM HEADS. I am also a member of the SABIAN EDUCATION Network.
Learn in a positive and relaxed environment. The drum lessons are geared to develop your musical needs with various approaches that can be fun, challenging, creative,build confidence and will enhance your musical abilities.
Lessons will focus on a variety of topics including; basic fundamentals, technique, Musicianship, Reading and Rudiments. Learn how to play in time and keep a study beat which leads to the development of your time feel(Groove). All styles of music including rock,funk,hip hop, reggae, swing/jazz/Dixieland/Bebop, Latin/Afro-Cuban, Brazilian and various World Beats. Drum fills, improvisation, soloing, and phrasing. Independence and coordination. Orchestral and Rudimental snare drum solos,Odd time signatures, Brushes. Practice and play along with educational tracks as well as your favorite songs of all styles and genre's. Learn how to use your Ears and Learn how to perform with others on stage. Song form and structure will also be taught. Learn the history of the drum set and study the master drummers through recordings, literature and video analysis.
Preparation for NYSSMA, All County, All State concert and jazz band, Scholarship and College auditions.
Occasional drum clinics with some of the world's elite drummers,such as Ignacio Berroa, Adam Nussbaum, John Riley and Bernard Purdie.
Yearly recitals for those interested. Jazz and Rock rhythm section work shops avalable.
