Winard Harper has performed with some of the greatest names in jazz. At 20, he was playing the drums first with Dexter Gordon, and then Johnny Griffin, and honed his chops for the next four years under the tutelage of the late, great Betty Carter.

Winard has released numerous CD's to his credit, is one of the most sough-after sidemen on the jazz circuit; has been exploring African rhythms that influence his work, and is noted for his abilities on the cymbals, which under his hand become an outstanding solo instrument all their own.

Matthew Carlson Announces Sprawling U.S. Tour During July and August, 2026

Michigan based singer/songwriter Matthew Carlson is headed out on a sprawling tour across the eastern half of the United States. Spread out over three weeks, the first leg of The Late Bloomers Tour will include 18 shows in 10 states with Carlson performing original songs from his quarter century in The Stick Arounds, Harborcoat, and The Pantones. These shows are a raw and intimate experience, laced with Carlson’s detailed and hilarious storytelling.

Three years ago, in the midst of a mental health crisis and the impending collapse of his business, Carlson walked away from a 23 year career in sales to focus on music, writing, and his podcast, What Am I Making. Since that departure, he has logged tens of thousands of miles traversing America on a series of tours that have taken him from sea to shining sea.
