Join us for an inspiring tribute to Black culture, history, and art, brought to life through the timeless words of Langston Hughes. Hear his poetry reimagined in a powerful performance by local poet G. Oliver King, with live jazz from the Blue Hearts Quartet. This afternoon is more than a performance - it's a celebration of resilience, creativity, and the enduring spirit of a movement. Funded by a generous gift to the AWPL Foundation by Glenn P. and Susan D. Dickes.
The Poughkeepsie Jazz Project was created in 2012 with the goal of maintaining live jazz culture and community in Poughkeepsie, NY. Since its inception, The PKJP has presented a weekly jazz jam session accessible to all musicians and fans of live music. Over the past twelve years, the jam has been honored to host hundreds of musicians from the Tri-state area. This event is free to both participants and listeners. All with a passion for jazz are welcome.

Friday Night Live Music Series! Outstanding food, atmosphere and live music featuring the Hudson Valley's top musical groups. 
It's the Anthem Band with its truly original sound that is creating a big wave throughout the USA. Anthem has played with international reggae artists, including: Sister Carol, Third World, Yellowman, Jimmy Cliff, Big Mountain, The Wailers Band, Burning Spear, Black Uhuru, Judy Mowatt, The Neville Bros, The Isley Brothers, Maxi Priest, Buju Banton, Capleton, Chacadimus and Pliers, John Holt, Ken Booth, Dennis Brown and Super Cat. Anthem has also been featured with Sister Carol on the Conan O'Brian show.
For more than three decades, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy has been the driving force behind the modern swing revival, and on June 12, they bring their electrifying live show to Paramount Hudson Valley Theater. Formed in the early ’90s in Ventura, California, the band burst onto the scene during the height of the grunge era, boldly reminding audiences that it was still cool to swing. With over 2 million albums sold, more than 3,000 live shows, and an average of 150 performances a year, BBVD has built a reputation as one of the most dynamic and enduring live acts in American music. Co-founded by frontman Scotty Morris and drummer Kurt Sodergren, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy blends the timeless sounds of jazz, swing, and Dixieland with a contemporary edge that feels as fresh today as it did at their legendary Derby nightclub residency in Los Angeles. Their horn-driven originals and high-octane performances have lit up stages from symphony halls to national television, including appearances on The Tonight

The Sugar Loaf Arts Collective proudly presents an electrifying evening of dance with the internationally acclaimed Forces of Nature Dance Theatre and its youth ensemble, FIYAA (Forces Incredible Youth Artist Alliance), on June 13th at 7:00 PM at the Sugar Loaf Performing Arts Center.
