	The Poughkeepsie Jazz Project was created in 2012 with the goal of maintaining live jazz culture and community in Poughkeepsie, NY. Since its inception, The PKJP has presented a weekly jazz jam session accessible to all musicians and fans of live music. Over the past nine years, the jam has been honored to host hundreds of musicians from the Tri-state area. This event is free to both participants and listeners. All with a passion for jazz are welcome. Music performed at this session is a mixture of: jazz standards, jazz repertoire, american songbook, bossa nova, and afro cuban. 	Raphael Silverman is rapidly emerging as one of the most compelling young guitarists on today's jazz scene. A native New Yorker and a recent graduate of Columbia University, Raphael already performs and tours with some of the most respected names in jazz. He is a member of the bands of two iconic former Art Blakey Jazz Messengers - Philip Harper and Johnny O’Neal -and has shared the stage with Eric Alexander, Rodney Green, Akiko Tsuruga, Peter Washington, Winard Harper, and many others.
