From bluegrass and jazz to rock & roll and old-time fiddle, Vi brings energy, humor, and musical mastery to every performance. He’s a 4X Colorado State Fiddling Champion, Grand Masters’ finalist, and 3X National Fiddle Contest Runner-Up. In 2018, his CDs Armadillo on a Hot Tin Roof and ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas both hit the Top 5 on Folk DJ Radio, with Armadillo charting for 7 months. His 2020 release Swingin’ at the Savoy (with Paul Anastasio) reached #7 on the Folk Alliance Chart. His latest project, The Thanksgiving Album, is currently ranked #1 on that chart.
Raised in a musical family, Vi toured with The Wickam Family Band and appeared on the iconic TV show, Blinky’s Fun Club (1992–1995). In 2012, his Fiddle Tune a Day project gained national attention, posting a new tune daily for a year. Vi is also a sought-after teacher and workshop leader. Billboard-charting alt-folk-pop singer-songwriter multi-instrumentalist Rachael Sage will perform at the Towne Crier on Friday, January 9th where she will play songs from her new full-length studio album, Canopy, and more.
