Jazz, Comedic, and Alternative
Origins Cafe
558 Beaver Meadow Rd
Cooperstown, NY   See Map
A Stick & A Box; Brian Melick & Studio Stu, perform the basic form of jazz interpretation, drum and bass/voice duo, a sort of, ‘Duja Vey’ (the feeling that none of this ever happened before).

This eccentric jazz duo takes the very best in classic jazz and pop, and twists and bends them into what they call ‘evocative jazz, exotic lounge’. In this ‘duo virtuosi’, nothing is sacred.....improv is rampant...lyrics are changed at will...familiar languages are obliterated....harmonies are sweet and sour perfection, and yet, serious, sophisticated and uncompromising in execution. The is one in-tune, out-of-tune, offbeat outfit.

** PRODUCED & PRESENTED BY Entertainment Events **

Late Nite Catechism | June 1st, 2025 | Doors open at 1:00 PM, Show starts at 2:00 PM | In the Sugar Loaf Performing Arts Center Pavilion - 231 Creamery Pond Road, Chester, NY 10918

Late Nite Catechism is an uproariously funny play that takes the audience back to their youth!

The irrepressible Sister teaches class to a roomful of “students.” Throughout the course of the class, the benevolent instructor rewards the “students” for correct answers with glow-in-the-dark rosaries and other nifty prizes.

Naughty “students” may well find themselves on stage sitting in a corner reflecting their actions. However, even the most reluctant “students” will be clamoring to get into this Sister’s class!

The New York Times calls Late Nite Catechism “interactive theater at its best and full of laughs.”

Jack Grace is Wandering Jack (with the Flowery Hat)

"It sounds like Cole Porter meets Gene Autry" - New York Times

Wandering Jack plays a magical repertoire of original children's songs mixed with some old classics and has garnered quite the following of children and parents in a short span of time.

He plays guitar, harmonica, ukulele, banjo and piano, shifting focus on different instruments for a wide range of engaging scenarios.

But the music is about children and their special world. He can get children laughing and dancing about volcanoes, jumping on the bed or understanding that all living creatures get a chance to be babies. The emphasis is on fun but the lesson is simply, all children are one of a kind, deserve love , what they feel is important, and the world is a wonderful place to explore.

Best known for his work with Big D and The Kids Table and The Poughkeepsie Jazz project, Ben has performed and recorded with countless artists throughout his career, this marks his first album entirely of his own compositions. Ben believes bassists offer a unique perspective on composition and arrangement, crafting music from a ‘bottom-up’ approach. This philosophy shines through in the album’s thoughtful yet minimalistic arrangements. Each track brings a distinct sound, featuring an eclectic mix of musicians from Ben’s two musical worlds: ska and jazz.

“Benergy” is streaming everywhere now! Available on vinyl at Sleepwalksounds.com.
