The Poughkeepsie Jazz Project was created in 2012 with the goal of maintaining live jazz culture and community in Poughkeepsie, NY. Since its inception, The PKJP has presented a weekly jazz jam session accessible to all musicians and fans of live music. Over the past nine years, the jam has been honored to host hundreds of musicians from the Tri-state area. This event is free to both participants and listeners. All with a passion for jazz are welcome.

Music performed at this session is a mixture of: jazz standards, jazz repertoire, american songbook, bossa nova, and afro cuban. Sorry, we do not host original material at this session.

A 2023 finalist in the International Acoustic Music Awards for Best Male artist for his song, "Elephants Never Forget," Peter will be releasing his next recording, "A Pocket Full of Change,": a collection of original acoustic guitar instrumental songs shortly.

Ray has performed and recorded with Bernard Purdie, Patience Higgins, Steve Turre, The Sun Ra Arkestra, Cotton Club All Stars, Harlem Blues and Jazz Band and many others. He has toured as a cast member of the "Ray Charles Show"; performed at international jazz festivals including the Zanzibar International Film Festival; North Sea Jazz Festival-Cape Town, South Africa; Audi Jazz Festival-Brussels, Belgium; and the Foix Jazz Festival, France among others; and was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame, 2013.

Vance Gilbert is an American folk singer-songwriter. Although he started as a jazz singer in college, he discovered his affinity for the storytelling sensibilities of the acoustic singer-songwriter community. He became a regular on the open mike circuit in Boston and toured with Shawn Colvin. He is noted by his peers and fans as an ever consummate performer. In addition, he has recorded 13 albums, including 5 for Philo/Rounder Records. Gilbert is known for his improvisational rapport with audiences during his shows. He speaks as he sings, with sincerity and depth. He has a wide range covering Joni Mitchell one moment and doing what sounds like a jazz classic the next.
