--
Le Winston Band is a Montreal group that blends its French-Canadian roots with Zydeco and Cajun music. Since 2012, the Winston troupe has been spreading its joie de vivre through a sound that fuses the rich Louisiana musical tradition with its own Montreal identity. Le Winston Band music is leaning into rural Acadian traditions yet steeped in a full bore Zydeco sound and feel.

Inspired by different music from French-speaking America, the group unashamedly merges cultures and eras to create a doubly “original” sound. Their repertoire oscillates between their own compositions and traditional pieces from Louisiana, Quebec and elsewhere. The Winston Band has taken its music to the four corners of Canada, to France, Belgium, Switzerland, the Netherlands and the United States and has more than 600 shows to its credit. Just back from a major 11 stop tour of Europe in May.

Alan Cumming: UNCUTParamount Hudson Valley Theater
1008 Brown St
Peekskill, NY   See Map
Multi-hyphenate, multi-award winning, multimedia mogul Alan Cumming returns with a new cabaret show, this time even more revealing, hilarious and authentic than ever before. It is, in fact, Alan Cumming Uncut. With musical direction by Henry Koperski. “The androgynous imp is both quiet and uproarious, adorable and sensual, flippant and emotional, otherworldly and inviting… this is precisely why he’s an icon to behold – he is unapologetically himself, and with a talent like that, he has no need to apologize.” – Billboard
“I have admired Alan Cumming since first seeing him in the 1998 Broadway revival of ‘Cabaret.’ Who was this exotic, androgynous provocateur and pansexual pied piper brazenly flirting with audience members without losing his composure? He was scary and irresistible… Nothing, however, prepared me for the emotional firestorm that Mr. Cumming detonated at Tuesday’s opening-night performance of his nightclub show at Cafe Carlyle.

Presented in Collaboration with Jazz at Lincoln Center

Join us for this high-energy celebration of Duke Ellington’s 125th birthday, guided by the maestro himself, the iconic trumpeter and composer Wynton Marsalis! This exhilarating night of grand-scale jazz features some of today’s most extraordinary jazz virtuosos — the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. To celebrate the musical giant’s 125th birthday, the JLCO salutes their greatest inspiration by performing some of his more socially conscious repertoire—music directed by Ted Nash.

The intuitive, spontaneous nature of the music presented by Bassist & Composer John Menegon, in collaboration with these exceptional musicians, pushes the boundaries of today’s music on the world stage. The music is deeply rooted in the traditions that come
out of the Free Bop era of Ornette Coleman, Dewey Redman, and Paul Motian, to name a few. The music is created in the “moment of now!” Some of the melodies presented on Saturday will be freely interpreted, sometimes letting the form create itself, using melodic and harmonic expression relying in the trust of each player’s deep knowledge of improvisation. The group will be exploring some odd meters and different grooves, and will include Menegon’s original compositions. The unique sounds in improvisation
are unleashed by these four exceptional musicians.
