 The Porch Brothers are Richard Brooker and Tom Heany. They sing and play acoustic guitars and mandolin. Their songs are mostly American and mostly vintage, with generous handfuls of originals, contemporary gems and surprises thrown in. A typical set might include jazz from Duke Ellington or Django Reinhardt, a gem or two from John Prine, some standards, a country classic from Cindy Walker, a few fiddle tunes and some of heartwarming, heartbreaking originals.
Richard Brooker's deft touch on guitar and mandolin comes from decades of playing songs from American, Celtic, Gypsy and Brazilian traditions. Tom Heany is a Hudson Valley songwriter; his instruction manual is the great American songbook, and his newspaper is traditional American music.
They sing like well-loved old cars.
Donations to the musicians are greatly appreciated.

 The Freedom Park Bandshell in LaGrangeville will be the venue for a "Ella, Nat, and Frank, Big Band Style" show presented by The Big Band Sound 25-piece jazz orchestra, including five vocalists and swing dance performers, and it will benefit the Sparrow's Nest local charity. This show will feature songs from "the Queen and Kings of the Great American Songbook":Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole, and Frank Sinatra, in the most exciting setting of a live big band. Performances are Saturday, June 1st at 6 p.m. and Sunday, June 2nd at 6 p.m. and although tickets won't be required for entry, the suggested donation is $20 per person with proceeds benefiting the Sparrow's Nest charity. Bring your folding chairs and blankets. If it should rain, the performance will take place under the cover of the adjacent large picnic pavilion.

 Acclaimed saxophonist Eric Person makes a strong impression wherever he performs. He has worked with leaders within the vanguard of the jazz world namely McCoy Tyner, Dave Holland, Houston Person, Wallace Roney, Chico Hamilton and many others. His body of work as a leader is stylistically diverse and intrepid. Person's 2022 release "Blue Vision" features his collaboration with tenor saxophone titan Houston Person. And critics have taken note of Eric's signature sound on alto and soprano saxophone. John Chacona of Signal to Noise writes "he cultivates a sheer beauty of sound that's often breathtaking. Listen to the round, full yet emotional sound he gets on soprano. On the alto, his sound is big and singing with a hint of bluesy smoke. This is an artist that rewards your attention."
This show will be held outside on Esther St. In case of rain, the show will be held inside the BeanRunner Cafe.

Hudson Valley-based pianist/composer David Lopato has performed as a leader and sideman throughout the world. As a composer he has received multiple grants from the N.E.A., New York Foundation for the Arts, Meet the Composer, and the Beards Fund, as well as a Fulbright Fellowship to study Javanese Gamelan in Surakarta, Indonesia, where he lived for a year. Lopato has toured his own music in configurations ranging from solo piano to 10-piece ensembles, having performed with Dave Liebman, Dewey Redman, Joe Lovano, Mark Helias, Ray Anderson, Wadada Leo Smith, Jane Ira Bloom, Steve Gorn and numerous others. James Gordon has been there. He’s done that. He has had a remarkably diverse and resilient career in the Canadian entertainment business. As a solo singer-songwriter and with the ground-breaking trio Tamarack, he’s recorded at least 40 albums, (he’s lost track), and toured relentlessly around the world. He’s written for symphony orchestras, musical theatre and dance works, scored films, and for more than ten years was heard on CBC radio as songwriter-in-residence for the ’Basic Black’ and ‘Ontario Morning’ programs. Between tours, James is a record producer, playwright, author, community activist, theatre director and just-retired Guelph City Councillor. His new ‘musical’ novel “The Ark Of The Oven Mitt” was a finalist for last year’s Stephen Leacock Humour Award, and also last year he had his first viral hit with 300,000 views for his satirical song “Crybabies Caravan”. He was 2023’s Artist-in-residence in his hometown of Guelph ON. His new album is “Wrinkles and Scars”.
