A Kinetic Soul
with KJ Denhert, Gina Stafford
Folk/Traditional, Jazz
Meadow Blues Coffee
8 Greycourt Avenue
Chester, NY   See Map
KJ is a kinetic soul unbound by identity directives. With her acoustic guitar, she draws from a broad palette of urban musical heritage, and jazz and folk traditions. KJ is a gifted guitarist who can effortlessly inhabit and meld many musical worlds with reverence and authority. Her soulful and smoky vocal stylings are earthy and elegant. Her lyrics embody the romance and poetry of the American Songbook; her truths are written with empirical detail. As the storyteller who has lived these tales, KJ liberates her listeners with understatement.

Fred Gillen Jr. in Concert
Folk/Traditional
BeanRunner Cafe
201 S. Division Street @ Esther
Peekskill, NY   See Map
Peekskill native, NYFA (New York Foundation For The Arts) grant recipient Fred Gillen Jr has released nine full-length albums, to great critical acclaim, and has toured all over the U.S. and Europe. His songs have been featured on ABC's "All My Children," NPR's "Car Talk," CMJ's New Music Marathon Sampler, and in 2012 his version of Woody Guthrie's "I Ain't Got No Home" was featured on "Pete Remembers Woody," a collection of Pete Seeger's spoken stories about Woody Guthrie. Like Guthrie, his songs often reflect the struggles of the marginalized and forgotten, shining a light on both the despair and hope in the human condition. His live performances are spontaneous celebrations of all that it is to be human, he encourages participation, and he works hard to eliminate the "fourth wall" between performer and audience.

Admission $15.

Late Nite Catechism
Comedy
Paramount Hudson Valley Theater
1008 Brown St
Peekskill, NY   See Map
Late Nite Catechism is an uproariously funny play that takes the audience back to their youth. The irrepressible Sister teaches class to a roomful of “students.” Throughout the course of the class the benevolent instructor rewards the “students” for correct answers with glow-in-the-dark rosaries and other nifty prizes. Naughty students may well find themselves on stage sitting in a corner reflecting on their actions. However, even the most reluctant “students” will be clamoring to get into this Sister’s class. The New York Times calls Late Nite Catechism “interactive theater at its best and full of laughs!” *As a reminder, no outside food or drink permitted in the venue. Any patron found with outside alcohol, is subject to removal. Backpacks and large bags are not permitted inside the venue.

City Winery Hudson Valley Presents David Nail live on March 4th at 7:30pm

A country artist with an agile voice, a gift for songwriting, and a passionate performing style, David Nail emerged in 2002 with the moderately successful single "Memphis." He inked a deal with MCA Nashville five years later and released a string of high-charting studio albums, including 2011's Sound of a Million Dreams, which featured the number one single "Let It Rain." In 2018 he teamed up with longtime colleagues Jason Hall and Andrew Petroff under the moniker David Nail & The Well Ravens and issued the organic and inward-looking EP Only This and Nothing More. Two years later, he released the intimate Bootheel 2020 EP, which like its 2021 follow-up of the same name, paid tribute to his small Missouri hometown.
