Vocal phenom and violinist, Alexandra Noailles, is joined by acclaimed jazz pianist Sarah Jane Cion for a special concert at the BeanRunner Cafe.

Alexandra studied classical violin with the late Jean Ryden Eley of Great Neck, one of the founding members of the Long Island Philharmonic. After graduating Hunter College, Alexandra studied acting at the William Esper Studio in NYC and performed in Off-Broadway productions, musical theatre, film, commercials, and radio voice-overs. You'll also find her playing violin at Our Lady of the Atonement at Graymoor in Garrison, NY on Sundays where she also serves as a substitute cantor.

Sarah has won top honors at a major jazz competition and her music is featured in a number of films. She has also performed with legends like Clark Terry and Anita O'Day. She holds distinctions in music from New England Conservatory and authored a book on modern jazz piano.

The real-life marriage of two great concert pianists, Alessio Bax and Lucille Chung, has resulted in one of the leading piano duos of their generation. UK magazine Music and Arts states, “Theirs is a marriage of wondrous colours and dextrous aplomb, subtly balanced to make a musical performance sound as one.”

Bax is praised for creating “a ravishing listening experience” with his lyrical playing and insightful interpretations. Chung has been acclaimed for her “stylish and refined” performances by Gramophone.

The duo first appeared in our 2020–2021 streaming music series ALIVEmusica. Their program this season includes works by Mozart, Poulenc, Debussy, and Piazzolla.

Throughout the years , Caroline Cotter has found a true home on the road and on diverse musical stages internationally, with audiences captivated by her vulnerable vocal quality which belies her insightful and award-winning songwriting. Caroline’s third national release, “Gently as I Go,” takes listeners around the world, back home, and deep into the human heart. Since her debut album, "Dreaming as I Do," which was the number five CD of the Month on the FAI Folk DJ Charts in 2015, Caroline has performed over 1000 shows in 45 states and 14 countries, with a follow-up release in 2018, "Home on the River.” “Gently as I Go,” released in August 2023, pulls the listener in; exploring travel and connection, empowerment and creative practice, love, life and death, nostalgia and growing up, loss and gratitude.

ERNEST "CHICO" ALVAREZ PERAZA is a Cuban-American author, songwriter, vocalist and bandleader. He was also the host of a long running radio show, "New World Gallery", which aired from 1986 until 2017 on Saturday and Sunday afternoons over commercial-free WBAI radio (99.5 FM).

As a performer, Chico has appeared on stage at music festivals, such as Summer Stage, Celebrate Brooklyn, Lincoln Center Out Of Doors, Avery Fisher Hall, Damrosh Park, NJPAC, Queens Theatre In The Park and Flushing Town Hall, Harlem Jazz Festival, Battery Park Music Festival, African Street Festival and at The Skirball Center.

CHICO ALVAREZ and MAFÍMBA's sound is unique and the core group is very versatile, with each musician able to interpret a broad range of genres, such as jazz, Latin jazz, salsa, charanga, & mambo.

The band's repertoire covers a wide range of great Cuban and New York classics from the golden era of the 50's, 60's and 70's.

The Trilateral Project, formed by pianist Tomoko Ohno, mixes Jazz, Brazilian music, and other styles of music. Ohno has been performing with Slide Hampton, Rufus Reid, The Dizzy Gillespie Alumni Big Band, and is the main pianist for Diva Jazz Orchestra. Ms. Ohno has also released albums as a leader in Japan, U.S., and Argentina.

Marcus McLaurine is recognized for being the bass player for jazz legend Clark Terry for more than 30 years. He has travelled the world with the most important names in jazz and shared the stage with Dizzy Gillespie, Abbey Lincoln, and the Count Basie Orchestra under the direction of Thad Jones.

Samuel Martinelli on drums, is “... one of the most talented musicians coming out of Brazil in recent times...” (Claudio Roditi). He has played with Roditi, Hendrik Meurkens, Jay Leonhart, Paul Meyers, John Lee, and performed in Carnegie Hall, Jazz Forum Arts, New Jersey Performing Arts Center, among others.
