Sunday 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm | The Porch Brothers Americana, Acoustic | BeanRunner Cafe 201 S. Division Street @ Esther Peekskill, NY See Map |
The Porch Brothers are Richard Brooker and Tom Heany. They sing and play acoustic guitars and mandolin. Their songs are mostly American and mostly vintage, with generous handfuls of originals, contemporary gems and surprises thrown in. A typical set might include jazz from Duke Ellington or Django Reinhardt, a gem or two from John Prine, some standards, a country classic from Cindy Walker, a few fiddle tunes and some of heartwarming, heartbreaking originals.
Richard Brooker's deft touch on guitar and mandolin comes from decades of playing songs from American, Celtic, Gypsy and Brazilian traditions. Tom Heany is a Hudson Valley songwriter; his instruction manual is the great American songbook, and his newspaper is traditional American music. They sing like well-loved old cars. Donations to the musicians are greatly appreciated. For reservations, call 914-737-1701.

Boling and Paxton co-wrote all 15 songs, and Noel Paul Stookey (of Peter, Paul and Mary) joined them writing one song. Paxton says, “Hello, Dan'l. Congratulations on a fine, fine album. I was honored to have something to do with assembling it, and the pleasure of writing the songs with you was real. We’ve been writing [together] now just for maybe a year and a half, or two years ... Saturday 8:00 pm | Yellow Brick Road- An Elton John Celebration! Pop/Soft Rock | Paramount Hudson Valley Theater 1008 Brown St Peekskill, NY See Map |
They are back!
There is no other performer who looks and sounds so much like Elton John, nor any tribute act that provides the experience of being at an Elton John concert the way Gerald Brann and Yellow Brick Road do. Brann, not only bears an uncanny resemblance to the international superstar — complete with gap-toothed smile and many of his mannerisms — but recreates Elton John’s vocals and playing to a tee. To capture the essence of the piano man, Brann dresses in replica costumes and wears Elton’s trademark outrageous glasses. A trained jazz pianist, Brann has been a lifelong Elton John fan, and his admiration for and love of his music comes shining through as he plays one hit after another with remarkable likeness to the pop music icon. Brann and his talented five-piece band evoke audience participation throughout the entire show — whether singing along to “Rocket Man” and “Your Song,” swaying to “Candle in the Wind,” or hopping and bopping to “Crocodile Rock.” Info & tickets
