Mike Burns
Singer-Songwriter
BeanRunner Cafe
201 S. Division Street @ Esther
Peekskill, NY   See Map
The buzz has been building for some time now about Mike Burn's delightfully clear, smooth baritone voice. He is a singer/songwriter & acoustic flat-picking guitarist from Purdys, NY.

As a renowned songwriter, Mike has raised quite a few eyebrows. His song "My Darling" was recorded by Mark Newton on his Rebel Records CD "Follow Me Back To The Fold", Mark's tribute to the ladies of bluegrass, performed with Valarie Smith. The album won "Recorded Event Of The Year" at the 2001 International Bluegrass Musicians Association "World Of Bluegrass" Awards show.

Mike's music is steeped in the rural traditions of family, love, spiritual path, inspiration, the simple life and doing right.

Donations to the musicians are appreciated.

Garrison Keillor Tonight!Paramount Hudson Valley Theater
1008 Brown St
Peekskill, NY   See Map
Garrison Keillor Tonight is an evening of stand-up, storytelling, audience song, and poetry. One man, one microphone. There are sung sonnets, limericks and musical jokes, and the thread that runs through it is the beauty of growing old. Despite the inconvenience, old age brings the contentment of LESS IS MORE. Your mistakes and big ambitions are behind you, nothing left to prove, and small things give you great pleasure because that’s what’s left. (“I was unhappy in college because it was a requirement for an intellectual, but then I went into show business and discovered that people won’t pay to be made unhappy, their kids will do it for free.”) There is the News from Lake Wobegon, a town booming with new entrepreneurs, makers of artisanal firewood and gourmet meatloaf, breeders of composting worms, and dogs trained to do childcare.

Mitch Hayes
Singer-Songwriter, Americana
Hootenanny Cafe Mini Concerts
Online and on the radio, NY   See Map
Mitch Hayes is a singer-songwriter originally from North Carolina who now calls Oklahoma, home. He has been playing and singing all of his life. This musical journey began in Junior High and High School as the drummer in a band with his brother and some friends. During his High School and College years, he picked up the guitar and began performing in the iconic 60’s and 70’s coffeehouse scene. It was then that he began to develop his songwriting skills. It’s no surprise that his signature Folk/Americana style was influenced by those singer songwriters of his day whose music defined an entire generation. Hayes’ music has been reviewed in several musical publications and most recently by the highly respected Alan Cackett. His songs will take you on an emotional journey through timeless themes of love and loss, self-reflection, joy and sadness and social consciousness. His lyrics will sometimes make you laugh, sometimes make you cry, but will always entertain you.

Cheryl & Kurt, a dynamic guitar/harmonica duo, always surprise and delight people with the diversity of their repertoire, both covers and originals. Kurt's popularity as a guitarist is due in part to the range of styles he displays, while the duet taken as a whole--guitar, harmonica, percussion and harmony vocals--seems like more than two busy musicians, making for a compelling performance.
