Emily Mazzella is a 21-year-old, up and coming jazz singer on the scene. Her story with jazz is one that grows deeper in passion every day. Coming from R & B, Pop, and all various roots: Emily began to study voice with Jazz Pianist, Composer, and Vocal Coach Lonnie Leibowitz, in her junior year of high school. She began studying at Suny Purchase College, in the Jazz Studies program in Fall of 2020, where she was mentored by Alexis Cole, Pete Malinverni, Gary Smulyan, Ralph Lalama, and others.
In 2020, Emily released her first E.P. "Freedom of the Note", a powerful and transformational moment in her career. She is now releasing her first full length recording, "Awakening" (Solar Dream Records). Emily has performed at Birdland Jazz Club, the Jones Beach Theater, and numerous NYC clubs. Jazz Vocalist Sheila Jordan says "Emily is a beautiful singer. The Freedom Park Bandshell in LaGrangeville will be the venue for a "Swingtime!, Big Band Style" show presented by The Big Band Sound 25-piece jazz orchestra, including five vocalists and swing dance performers, and it will benefit the Sparrow's Nest local charity. An exciting event for springtime, "Swingtime!, Big Band Style" will feature songs from the core of the Great American Songbook made famous by such artists as Ella Fitzgerald, Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, Frank Sinatra, Glenn Miller, and many more. This show will spotlight the Golden Age of Popular Music in the most exciting setting of a live big band. Performances are Saturday, June 3rd at 6 p.m. and Sunday, June 4th at 6 p.m. and although tickets won't be required for entry, the suggested donation is $20 per person with proceeds benefiting the Sparrow's Nest charity.
