What happens when two friends get together? Usually they talk about their lives. They get caught up on the news. Maybe they’ll listen to each other’s points of view and share what’s on their minds. And, if they’re musicians, they’re likely to pull out an instrument or two along the way.
In Race and Song: A Musical Conversation, Alastair Moock and Reggie Harris do just that. Only, in this case, these friends of different races, ages, and social backgrounds share how they’ve seen and experienced the world in different ways. They explore issues of race, class, gender and history with an intentionality and generosity of spirit that will draw in folks of all ages. Together in musical conversation, and with the aid of historical and family photos, Alastair and Reggie open up to each other and frame their perspectives through music (which always helps the medicine go down!). Join these two veteran musicians and storytelling troubadours for a very special performance. How to order tickets plus more information

Sunday 9:00 pm to 10:30 pm | Craig Bickhardt Singer-Songwriter, Americana, and Folk/Traditional | Hootenanny Cafe Mini Concerts Online and on the radio, NY See Map |
Craig Bickhardt is a singer-songwriter of the old school- you’ll hear echoes of 60s folk revivalists Tom Rush, Gordon Lightfoot and Eric Andersen in his work along with the melodic grace of a Paul Simon or a Jimmy Webb. His virtuosic guitar playing interweaves folk, blues and ragtime influences. Craig’s musical vagabondage began when he discovered an old guitar in the family attic at the age of 14 and taught himself to play. Soon he was writing songs and performing at Philadelphia’s famed Main Point Coffeehouse. Since then, his career has been a continuing dialogue with his six-string, a dialectic with his dreams, a reckoning with memory. His songs are human portraits painted with a sense of wonder and clear-eyed grace; superbly rendered miniature studies that achieve a deeper resonance with sharp-drawn images and indelible hooks. They have been covered by numerous artists including Ray Charles, B.B. King, Johnny Cash and the Highwaymen, Kathy Mattea, Martina McBride and Alison Krauss.
