Warm up to St Patrick's Day
with Lisa Gutkin
Irish (traditional), Acoustic
BeanRunner Cafe
201 S. Division Street @ Esther
Peekskill, NY   See Map
A Grammy award winner with The Klezmatics, a composer/music director/performer in the Tony award winning show Indecent, and a bandmate in Sting's orchestra for his show The Last Ship, Lisa Gutkin brings a lot to the table when she performs.

But "back in the day" Lisa played Irish music like crazy, and performed with luminaries in the Irish scene: John Whelan, Cathy Ryan, Whirligig (with Cillian Vallely, now of Lunasa), John, Redmond, Tommy Sands, and lots of others.

Lisa's fiddling is pristine, lilting, and very powerful, and in this warm-up to St Patrick's Day, Lisa will create an atmosphere so warm, you will think you are at the fireplace in one of her favorite pubs in Rostrevor or Sligo, her Irish homes away from home.

Admission $20.

For more than two decades, Toronto’s Enter The Haggis has combined bagpipes and fiddles with a rock rhythm section to create a distinctively eclectic sound that has been praised by The Boston Globe, The Washington Post and Canada’s Globe and Mail.

Signature songs like “One Last Drink”, “Gasoline”, “Down With The Ship” and “Lancaster Gate” have had hundreds of thousands of plays on social media, appeared in Hollywood films, and have been performed and recorded by artists around the world.

Enter The Haggis' commitment to putting on a great show every single night has made them a favorite at festivals and performing arts centers across the US and Canada. As a result, ETH shows have become an annual tradition on some of the most prestigious stages on the continent.

What happens when two friends get together? Usually they talk about their lives. They get caught up on the news. Maybe they’ll listen to each other’s points of view and share what’s on their minds. And, if they’re musicians, they’re likely to pull out an instrument or two along the way.
In Race and Song: A Musical Conversation, Alastair Moock and Reggie Harris do just that. Only, in this case, these friends of different races, ages, and social backgrounds share how they’ve seen and experienced the world in different ways. They explore issues of race, class, gender and history with an intentionality and generosity of spirit that will draw in folks of all ages. Together in musical conversation, and with the aid of historical and family photos, Alastair and Reggie open up to each other and frame their perspectives through music (which always helps the medicine go down!).
Join these two veteran musicians and storytelling troubadours for a very special performance.
