Pianist Pavlo Gintov has been described as “a poet of the keyboard” by Marty Lash of the Illinois Entertainer, a “musical storyteller” by the Japanese publication Shikoku News, and “a fantastic pianist and extraordinary artist” by Jerry Dubins of the Fanfare Magazine. He has played in venues world wide.
A native of Ukraine, Mr. Gintov graduated with honors from the Moscow State Conservatory, where he was a student of Lev Naumov and Daniil Kopylov. He holds a Doctor of Musical Art degree from the Manhattan School of Music in New York City, where he studied with Nina Svetlanova. Erena Terakubo was born in Sapporo, Japan. She began playing the alto saxophone at the age of nine and had jazz clinics with musicians including Herbie Hancock when she was attending Sapporo Junior Jazz Orchedtra. Her first album, "North Bird" with Kenny Barron , Christian McBride , Lee Pearson , and Peter Bernstein reached no.1 on the Japanese jazz charts and was awarded Swing Journal's Gold Disc. In 2011 and 2013, Terakubo recorded her second and third CD, "New York Attitude" and "Burkina" with Kenny Barron, Ron Carter, Lee Pearson, Dominick Farinacci, Jimmy Cobb, and Lenny White. In 2015, she moved to New York and released her fourth disc, "A Time For Love" with David Hazeltine, David Williams, Lewis Nash. The album was released worldwide.

Spencertown Academy Roots & Shoots Concerts Series will present Jerron Paxton and Dennis Lichtman in a program inspired by African-American folk and blues of the 1920s on Saturday, March 11 at 8:00pm. Paxton and Lichtman are both world-renowned multi-instrumentalists and vocalists whose musical friendship has grown organically in New York City for more than a decade. On March 12, 2023, some of the most talented young musicians in the country will come to Poughkeepsie to compete in the 50th Annual Hudson Valley Philharmonic String Competition. The event takes place in Skinner Hall on the campus of Vassar College, which has generously allowed the competition to use its facilities for many years.
Competitors must be between the ages of 18 and 25, and play the violin, viola or cello. They will perform pieces by Bach, Mozart, Haydn, Brahms as well as one of the famous concertos written for their instrument. The three finalists will perform their concertos on Sunday afternoon, March 12, at 3 pm. Admission is open to the public and it is free! Accordionist, guitarist, and player of pocket-sized instruments, Mary Beth Carty of Nova Scotia possesses a magical voice that earned her a nomination for Traditional Singer of the Year at the Canadian Folk Music Awards. Carty’s second album, Crossing the Causeway, fuses traditional song, instrumental tunes, & originals to create a multilingual opus that reflects the diverse yet unified roots of her region. The project features some of Cape Breton Island's best Celtic musicians and singers including Colin Grant (Coïg, Rum Ragged), Bradley Murphy (Mhira Blood), and Donnie Calabrese (Sprag Session) and guest vocalists including Cassie and Maggie.
