An Acoustic Celebration of the Grateful Dead - guitar workshop and concert
with Dead to the Core
Acoustic, Rock (classic), and Americana
Chromatic Studios
71 Oneil Street
Kingston, NY   See Map
Dead to the Core is a collective of singer-songwriters and acoustic musicians, led by musician/author Jeffrey Pepper Rodgers, that celebrates the music of the Grateful Dead — not through note-for-note re-creations but by playing the songs their own way, letting them grow and evolve collaboratively in the true spirit of the Dead.

Interspersed with the music are clips from Rodgers’ own interviews with Jerry Garcia and Bob Weir, in which they reflect on the roots and evolution of the music.

At 4 pm, Rodgers will teach a workshop on Grateful Dead for acoustic guitar, followed by a house concert at 7:30 pm.

BeanRunner Cafe
201 S. Division Street @ Esther
Peekskill, NY   See Map
The buzz has been building for some time now about Mike Burn's delightfully clear, smooth baritone voice. He is a singer/songwriter & acoustic flat-picking guitarist from Purdys, NY.

As a renowned songwriter, Mike has raised quite a few eyebrows. His song "My Darling" was recorded by Mark Newton on his Rebel Records CD "Follow Me Back To The Fold", Mark's tribute to the ladies of bluegrass, performed with Valarie Smith. The album won "Recorded Event Of The Year" at the 2001 International Bluegrass Musicians Association "World Of Bluegrass" Awards show.

Mike's music is steeped in the rural traditions of family, love, spiritual path, inspiration, the simple life and doing right.

Donations to the musicians are appreciated.

Alias Smith & Jones
Blues
BeanRunner Cafe
201 S. Division Street @ Esther
Peekskill, NY   See Map
Alias Smith & Jones bring us the best of the blues. This band make sparks fly with a roaring harmonica played by Sal Carolei, the powerful and sultry voice of Renee Flemings, and The Button Men, a group of seasoned veterans, monster musicians in their own right with awesome power and raw groove.

Reviews of their recent album, "Hit and Run" are stellar.

Bluestown Music Magazine says the album is "...funky, raw, sultry blues...powerful, soulful...hypothermic...A great debut mix of raw blues and soulful sound."

Dominique Boulay of Paris-Move & Blues Magazine (Fr) calls it an album "so well done that we can't resist telling you about it. Renee Flemings is a singer with a powerful voice and such an organ supported by excellent musicians can only produce an album of excellent quality. And that is exactly what it is about here."

$20 cover. For reservations call 914-737-1701.

Winter Roots at Kaatsbaan
with ROB ICKES AND TREY HENSLEY
Bluegrass, Roots Music
Kaatsbaan Cultural Park
120 Broadway
Tivoli, NY, NY   See Map
Take a 15-time IBMA (International Bluegrass Music Association) Dobro Player of the Year and a Tennessee-born guitar prodigy who made his Grand Ole Opry debut at the age of 11, and you have
Rob Ickes and Trey Hensley, a powerhouse acoustic duo that has electrified the acoustic music scene.

Known for their white-hot picking, stone country vocals with soul and world class live musicianship, Ickes and Hensley meld together blues, bluegrass, country, rock, and other string band music of all kinds to form a signature blend of music that defies restrictions of genre. They are equally at home on stages of prestigious performing arts centers, theatres, and the Grand Ole Opry as they are on Americana, jamgrass, bluegrass, and jam band festivals.

The Irish Comedy Tour

THE IRISH COMEDY TOUR Returns this February!
The Irish Comedy Tour takes the party atmosphere of a Dublin pub and combines it with a boisterous, belly-laugh band of hooligans.
The group’s comedians and musicians, whose ancestors hail from the Emerald Isle, include Detroit native Derek Richards; Washington D.C. born Patrick Garrity; Ohio’s Michael Malone; Nova Scotia’s Damon Leibert; and from Inchicore, a suburb of Dublin, Ireland Derrick Keane.
Audiences howl at Richards’ tales about his child free existence, living in Las Vegas and his blue collar upbringing . He has appeared on Amazon Prime, The Bob & Tom Show, SiriusXM, and The Weather Channel’s Top 10. He just released his fourth album, Double Down, available on iTunes, Spotify and Soundcloud. Leibert’s unique and energetic style of fiddle playing lies somewhere between the driving dance beat of Cape Breton, and the lyrical music of Ireland. His power packed performance adds an incredible dimension to the show.
