iLan ‘Ban’ brings you the sounds of the Caribbean with Soca, Reggae and Steelpan.
Trevor ‘Bridges’ Bridgewater (bass) hails from St. Kitts. He has played with bands in St. Kitts and the U.S. and British Virgin Islands and has toured the U.S. with reggae bands The One Vibe and Rising Lion, and the now defunct Afro-Caribbean band Afroblue. Audel Brown (keyboards) is from Nevis St.Kitts’ sister island, where he started playing organ in the church and later on was the keyboard player for one of St.Kitts’ top bands Toucan. He is known as one of the hardest working keyboard players on the music circuit in Brooklyn where he currently resides. Clifton ‘Chico’ Anthony (steelpan) is from the island of Antigua. He has played with two of the most outstanding steel orchestras, Halcyon and Superfly, in Antigua. He worked in St. Maarten for a number of years as the arranger for Pott Steelers Steelband. Performers Ben Grosscup, Dilson Hernandez, and Lindsey Wilson bring their varied musical styles to our Coffeehouse stage,
Grosscup uses the power of song to amplify and accentuate the ideas and values of the transformative social movements. His music aims to inject a heightened sense of political imagination into today’s movements. Hernandez is a Bronx native. His talents include creative writing, playing various instruments, spoken-word poetry, singing, audio engineering, and beat making. He wishes to change the world with his art and community work (mostly for youth), aiming to strive for a more progressive and creative future. Wilson is a NYC singer-songwriter who has performed at the BMCC Tribeca Arts Center and Joe's Pub, as well as our own Walkabout Coffeehouse. She is a board member of the newly developed non-profit organization Kupanda Sisters, Inc. and currently works as a career coach for young adults (ages16-24) at a non-profit organization called Eckerd Connects.
