Sunday 9:00 pm to 10:30 pm | New Middle Class Singer-Songwriter, Americana | Hootenanny Cafe Mini Concerts Online and on the radio, NY See Map |
New Middle Class is Barbara Borok (lead vocal) and songwriter Mike Borok (guitar/vocal). Their award-winning music has been played on over 50 radio stations world-wide. Intertwined musically and romantically for too many years, Barbara and Mike sing about relationships and current events gone awry, the origin of the universe, life, death, and dessert – not necessarily in that order.
Their adventurously original songs walk a thin line between the funny and the serious. New Middle Class seduces with catchy melodies, distinctive vocals, harmonies and unexpected lyrical twists and turns. They were grand prizewinners in the Music To Life song contest at the prestigious Kerrville Folk Festival. Recent honors include finalist in the 2019 South Florida Folk Festival and twice featured by national organization Braver Angels. They are particularly pleased that the lyrics of their song Loch Ness Café were recently read as poetry (with appropriate Gaelic accent) on BBC Radio Scotland. | ||
