Thursday 7:00 pm | Mark Lettieri Group | The FALCON 1348 Route 9W Marlboro, NY See Map |
Lettieri's 2021 Album "Deep: The Baritone Sessions, Vol. 2" garnered a 2022 Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Instrumental Album!
Lettieri has pulled off a nice trick, making an album laden with enviable chops without that pesky guitar-slinger aftertaste. Perhaps because he puts the most enviable "chop" of all first—musicality. - All About Jazz VIDEO: Mark Lettieri - "Pulsar" (Deep: The Baritone Sessions, Vol. 2): https://youtu.be/3XD4pIlFyY8 https://www.marklettieri.com/ https://www.royalartistgroup.com/mark-lettieri Well known for his tight, aggressively grooving brand of rhythm playing, whether in the service of the 4-time GRAMMY Award-winning band Snarky Puppy, the Fearless Flyers or on his six solo albums, guitarist Mark Lettieri has found the perfect algorithm for the funk. Merging the influences of ‘70s and ‘80s rhythm and rock guitar icons like Prince and Eddie Van Halen, along with wide inspiration from George Clinton and P-Funk, Chuckii Booker, Periphery, Stevie Wonder, Steely Dan, and others. This Fort Worth, Texas resident has been insinuating his razor-sharp licks into the consciousness of funkateers since joining Snarky Puppy in 2008. Following a series of successful solo albums — 2011’s Knows, 2013’s Futurefun and 2016’s Spark and Echo — Lettieri began showing an affinity for the dark depths of baritone guitar in his popular social media video series, “Baritone Funk Thursday.” That online series led to his 2019 manifesto, Deep: The Baritone Sessions, a seven-song EP that featured contributions from fellow Snarky Puppy members Bobby Sparks and Justin Stanton on keyboards and Jason “JT” Thomas on drums, along with Funky Knuckles bassist Wes Stephenson and former Prince trumpeter Philip Lassiter. That same crew is back for Deep: The Baritone Sessions, Vol. 2, a full-length LP that showcases the breadth and depth of Lettieri’s nasty, low-end brand of funk.

Saturday 8:00 pm to 9:30 pm | Roots and Shoots Presents with Jim Kweskin Folk/Traditional, Blues | Spencertown Academy Arts Center 790 Route 203 Spencertown, NY See Map |
“Jim Kweskin made history in the 1960s by founding the Jim Kweskin Jug Band,” says Gerald Seligman, member of the Academy’s Music Committee. “Along with Geoff Muldaur, who graced our stage a few years ago, and his then-wife Maria Muldaur, they rescued African-American jug band music from obscurity and served it up for a new generation. Over the years, Jim added much more, but the bulk of his repertoire is from the 1920s, ‘30s and ‘40s. Now in his 80s he makes history again by playing as well as ever and keeping the tradition alive and thriving.”Tickets and More Information
