Esther Street Jazz
with Harlem Blues and Jazz Band
Blues, Jazz
BeanRunner Cafe
201 S. Division Street @ Esther
Peekskill, NY   See Map
Vollmer created the Harlem Blues & Jazz Band in 1973 as a labor of love, never suspecting that it would become one of the longest continually performing jazz groups in existence. The band has always had a strong link to Louis Armstrong from its inception. George James, the first saxophonist in the band, was with Armstrong in the 30s and participated in Armstrong's first triumphant return to his Native New Orleans. An impressive number of musicians from the Classic and Swing eras have graced the various groups throughout the years, thereby giving an enviable authenticity and historical significance to the band's performances and recordings.

Weather permitting, the performance will be outside on Esther St, otherwise it will be held inside the BeanRunner Cafe.

$20 pp donation to the musicians. For reservations, call 914-737-1701.

Dogwood, Beacon
47 East Main St.
Beacon, NY   See Map
Good music, food & drinks! The Warp/The Weft, active since 2012 in and beyond New York's Hudson River Valley, has earned praise for its uniqueness and song-crafting from casual and devoted listeners alike. Blending traditional and avant-garde styles, the warmth of a good wool sweater and the sometimes-bleak cold of an upstate winter, the progressive folk and psychedelia that the band brings to bear is propelled by poetic lyrics and a "spirit-conjuring" lilting tenor voice.
