An evening of contemporary/ original music, songs and stories with Niall Connolly and Band

"Amongst the most vibrant, poignant, and authentic indie folk artists in New York City." - No Depression

"I remember....enjoying the amnesty from Lenten good behavior that St. Patrick’s Day allowed. Chocolate and rainy parades. “You don’t have to be Irish to be Irish” on the telly.

Later of course, there was some drinking. But not like here [in the US]. My first years here, I remember feeling embarrassed and mildly offended by luminous green, made-in-China leprechaun-costumed drunk “My great grandmother’s from County Mary” types. Yelling at me to “play an Irish song”. “Want to see my passport? They are all fucking Irish songs.” I played a lot of bars that never should have had music. I did it. I paid the rent."

Niall Connolly

https://www.facebook.com/niallconnollymusic/

New York based, Cork-born songwriter Niall Connolly has released 8 studio albums, a live album and an EP. His latest album ‘Dream Your Way Out of This One’ features collaborations with his long term NYC band as well as guest appearances from Glen Hansard (Once, The Frames, The Swell Season) Javier Más ( Leonard Cohen’s band) and Deni Bonet (REM, Cyndi Lauper, Sarah McLachlan).

Connolly has toured all over Europe and the US including festival appearances at Glastonbury, CMJ, Prague Fringe Festival, Acoustic Festival Düsseldorf, Cork Folk Festival and Cuala NYC. He has opened for Glen Hansard, Lisa Hannigan, Mick Flannery, Lucius, Evan Dando, Eugene Kelly, Lambchop, Wallis Bird, MisterWives and many more.

He is the founder of Big City Folk Collective. Big City Folk hosts over 100 events annually throughout New York, a regular concert series in Woodstock and a biennial music festival.

"An absolutely beautiful collection of songs... I was gobsmacked by the quality of the songwriting... accomplished composition and arrangements... 4 stars." - Arena, RTÉ Radio 1's Arts Show

"Terrific. Disarming and beautifully crafted folk-pop. Connolly is a witty storyteller and not-to-be-missed songsmith." - Chicago Tribune

"Connolly's songs are both sad and uplifting. They're real. They speak to the goodness in people, that need to do something to make the world just a little better." - Budapest Times

"If Nina Simone had a power trio with a rock/soul and reggae flair, it would sound something like this" (Doug DeFalco).

At the heart of Faith's sound is bassist/vocalist Felice Rosser, who brought her Detroit born Afrodelic sound to New York and has been rocking ever since. Felice has performed or recorded with artists including Jean Michel Basquiat, the Bush Tetras, Don Cherry, Jemeel Moondoc, reggae innovator Annette Brissett, Gary Lucas, and members of: Liquid Liquid, Public Image Ltd., The Slits, Bad Brains, Talking Heads, Sonic Youth, Yo la Tengo, Dinosaur Jr., Television, & the Patti Smith Group.

Tokyo born guitarist Nao Hakamada's genre-bending guitar stylings and passionate tone embrace and enrich the music.

Drummer Finley Hunt is a veteran of the New York rock scene, having played with The Invaders and Rosie Rex and the Cuchifritos. His stripped down funky dubby musical sense propel and inspire the band.

Lettieri's 2021 Album "Deep: The Baritone Sessions, Vol. 2" garners a 2022 Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Instrumental Album!

Lettieri has pulled off a nice trick, making an album laden with enviable chops without that pesky guitar-slinger aftertaste. Perhaps because he puts the most enviable "chop" of all first—musicality. - All About Jazz

Mark Lettieri - "Pulsar" (Deep: The Baritone Sessions, Vol. 2) Official Video: https://youtu.be/3XD4pIlFyY8

https://www.marklettieri.com/
https://www.royalartistgroup.com/mark-lettieri

Well known for his tight, aggressively grooving brand of rhythm playing, whether in the service of the GRAMMY Award-winning band Snarky Puppy, the Fearless Flyers or on his six solo albums, guitarist Mark Lettieri has found the perfect algorithm for the funk. Merging the influences of ‘70s and ‘80s rhythm and rock guitar icons like Prince and Eddie Van Halen, along with wide inspiration from George Clinton and P-Funk, Chuckii Booker, Periphery, Stevie Wonder, Steely Dan, and others. This Fort Worth, Texas resident has been insinuating his razor-sharp licks into the consciousness of funkateers since joining Snarky Puppy in 2008.

Following a series of successful solo albums — 2011’s Knows, 2013’s Futurefun and 2016’s Spark and Echo — Lettieri began showing an affinity for the dark depths of baritone guitar in his popular social media video series, “Baritone Funk Thursday.” That online series led to his 2019 manifesto, Deep: The Baritone Sessions, a seven-song EP that featured contributions from fellow Snarky Puppy members Bobby Sparks and Justin Stanton on keyboards and Jason “JT” Thomas on drums, along with Funky Knuckles bassist Wes Stephenson and former Prince trumpeter Philip Lassiter. That same crew is back for Deep: The Baritone Sessions, Vol. 2, a full-length LP that showcases the breadth and depth of Lettieri’s nasty, low-end brand of funk.

It’s a new era for Aztec Two-Step!

“The old songs done in Rex’s new lineup has brought new life to the music. This truly is a band that people need to experience!!” - Ron Olesko, WFDU-fm/Folk Music Notebook/Hurdy Gurdy Folk Club, New Jersey

https://www.aztectwostep.com

https://www.facebook.com/pg/aztectwostep/

Originating from a chance meeting at a Boston folk club open mic night in 1971, Rex Fowler & Neal Shulman burst on the scene as Aztec Two-Step in 1972 with their self-titled debut album on Elektra Records. This first album and their three subsequent albums for RCA Records made the duo staples of progressive FM and college radio, helping to usher the folk-rock music of the 1960s into the 1970s and beyond. Rex and Neal went on to spend a lifetime of making music together, becoming a national treasure, earning accolades and building a loyal fan base.

After 47 years, Neal retired and original founding member, principal singer and songwriter Rex has continued on with their captivating songs (including some of Neal's originals), expanding the band's musical legacy with his new ensemble Aztec Two-Step 2.0. With 2 and 3-part harmonies, multi-instrumental arrangements and Dodie Pettit’s dazzling guitar work, they’ve recaptured the sound and feeling of Rex & Neal’s original studio recordings, at the same time putting a fresh spin on it. Still performing favorite ATS classics and old forgotten gems, they’ve also added some new compositions. And the stage patter still as engaging, fun, and poignant as ever.

"Absolutely FANTASTIC show last night. All familiar material, just taken up a notch!!” “Exceeded all my expectations! Just magical!” - the fans

Attraction is inexplicable. It’s pheromonal, quasi-spiritual, physiological and physical. For songwriter-pop artist Natalie Gelman, the pull to music has almost been innate. As an eight-year-old, she freely roamed the wilds of New York City, stoking the fire of her artistry, spurred on by violin and piano lessons, and her innate singing and songwriting gifts.

The Ojai, California-based artist has aptly titled her milestone release, Moth To The Flame. The 13-song album is a sublimely melodic and heartfelt blend of polished production, telepathic musicianship, and finely crafted pop with emotionally raw lyrics and storytelling. Natalie’s songwriting recalls sophisticated-but-still-pop tunesmiths such as Jewel, Sara Bareilles, and Jason Mraz. Her songs are subtly lush, detailed with ethereal atmospherics, majestic cello flourishes, chiming electric guitars, stately piano, and layers of dreamy vocals.
