Latin Jazz Express, SPECIAL GUEST Legendary Trombonist Conrad HerwigThe FALCON
1348 Route 9W
Marlboro, NY   See Map
A line-up of seasoned pros perform their interpretations of the music of Cuba, Puerto Rico and Latino NYC. A seven piece band dedicated to keeping the sounds and spirit of this music alive, Larry Moses' "Latin Jazz Express" is what happens when the sophisticated sounds of jazz mix it up with the red-hot Latin rhythms of Cuba, Puerto Rico and the streets of NYC.

http://latinjazzny.com/home

This evening is devoted to the works of the Masters of Latin Jazz

Tito Puente
Tito Puente, sometimes called the "King of Latin Jazz" or simply "El Rey" ("The King"), who made an indelible mark on Latin and popular culture. In addition to recording more than 100 albums, garnering Grammy nominations and Awards, and creating more than 200 compositions, Puente was and continues to be a highly revered musical legend in Latin music and jazz circles.

Eddie Palmieri
Band leader, arranger and composer of salsa and Latin jazz. - Eddie Palmieri has skillfully fused the rhythm of his Puerto Rican heritage with the complexity of his jazz influences: Thelonious Monk, Herbie Hancock, McCoy Tyner as well as his older brother, Charlie Palmieri. This created an innovative sound that mixed American jazz into Afro-Caribbean rhythms, surprising critics and fans alike.

SPECIAL GUEST ~
CONRAD HERWIG began a long association with Eddie Palmieri, a musical journey that continues to this day. He performed regularly as a member of Paquito D’Rivera’s Quintet and larger ensembles such as the Dizzy Gillespie inspired United Nation Orchestra. He continues his now long-standing affiliation with the Mingus Big Band, where he has served as musical director and contributed as arranger, most notably on the 2008 GRAMMY-nominated Live at the Tokyo Blue Note (Sunnyside).

An important mid-career affiliation was with the late saxophonist Joe Henderson, with whom he toured globally and spent time in the recording studio, contributing to projects such as Joe Henderson: Big Band (Verve; 1992), Porgy & Bess (Verve; 1999) and The Other Side of Joe Henderson (Universal; 2004), a posthumously released collection.

Glen David Andrews, The Crown Prince of Treme and New Orleans' most charismatic live performer!

Glen David Andrews is the real deal. The music here is distinctively NOLA but the Big Easy is a sound, not a genre, so Glen David Andrews mixes things up with an eclectic variety of styles that include Funk, Gospel, Jazz, Soul, Rock and Christian Contemporary. For starters, let's talk about the voice; if you've never heard Glen David Andrews, his vocals are amazing. It's like Willie Dixon meets James Brown. - Delite Rancher

Glen David Andrews
https://www.facebook.com/glendavidmusic

Gospel, blues, funk, jazz, soul, marching & world music constantly rub against and off on each other in the artistic gumbo of New Orleans. The same can be said about the art and life of Glen David Andrews, one of the Big Easy’s native sons.

Andrews, the New Orleans based trombonist and vocalist, hails from one of city’s legendary musical families. He is the cousin of Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews, so we know that Glen David Andrews can make great music.

Andrew's album Redemption (2014) is fun and funky while also managing to be a personal statement of Andrews’ struggle and the role that his personal faith in God and in himself played in allowing the trombonist and composer to overcome.

Andrews’ life and his music embrace both the sacred and profane – as does the city he calls home.

New Orleans trombone master, singer, songwriter Glen David Andrews is LIVE from Esplanade Studios with a performance of his song "A Day in the Life of a Fool":

Hootenanny Cafe Mini Concerts
Online and on the radio, NY   See Map

> Linda Marks is a Boston-based singer/songwriter, & a somatic psychotherapist. Known for her heart-to-heart style of songwriting, an emotional alchemist, Marks is a healer at heart. She uses songwriting to transform pain into strands of gold that wrap around your heart in a soothing warm embrace. Her story is one of two musical chapters: a young singer-songwriter & then re-emerging after several decades “falling under the undertow of life” as a single mom/caregiver for an aging mother with Alzheimer’s. Linda integrates elements of jazz with contemporary folk, & a pop freedom that can impress the ear while soothing the soul. Over the past 9 years, Linda has played Boston's major venues including Scullers Jazz Club, Club Passim, The Burren, City Winery & Club Cafe. During COVID-19, Linda's weekly Songs From the Heart, Meditations For the Heart livestream has attracted a global following. She has been featured on "All Things Considered" on NPR, in the Boston Globe & Boston Magazine.
