The RIX — Rik Palieri and Rick Nestler

Old friends Rik Palieri and Rick Nestler, proponents of the “Hudson River School of Music”, take the stage as a duo for an evening filled with songs both old and new, familiar and obscure, and from poignant to just plain zany!

Playing individually and together in various combinations on guitars, banjos, ukulele, Native American flute, Ozark mouth bow, autoharp, and perhaps even the Polish bag pipe, there will be plenty of chances for you at home to join The RIX in singing along, tapping your feet, slapping your knees, and, especially in this time of COVID, enjoying therapeutic belly laughs!

Together The RIX create an atmosphere of not only fun but also a rare glimpse of a part of American folklore. These travelers learned from the masters — they are from the true vine — catch them while you can!

Online and on the radio, NY   See Map
With Appalachian influences, dust bowl, Cajun and a dash of rockabilly, John Roy Zat comes from a long line of American singer-songwriters who occupy that space between traditional country and folk music. Think John Prine, Rodney Crowel, Jesse Winchester – you get the idea. Kate Wolf recorded his words to Midnight On The Water for her second album, with him playing fiddle; and the song has since been covered by Banish Misfortune, Caroline Herring and many others. His latest album, WHERE ZAT, was released in November of 2021. After a lot of this world traveled, JRZ now makes his home in Northern California.

Murali Coryell is a triple threat contemporary blues artist who sings, writes and plays guitar with the best. As the son of guitar legend Larry Coryell, Murali grew up with Jimi Hendrix, Miles Davis, & Carlos Santana.

Murali joined Duke Robillard’s touring band and was signed as a solo artist resulting in the Stax/Volt-influenced “Eyes Wide Open”. Rolling Stone magazine named Murali “One promising new hound”. He has toured with father Larry Coryell and Joe Louis Walker as a featured artist and as a supporting act for B.B. King.

Murali’s CD "Sugar Lips" (2009) reached # 5 on the Living Blues Radio Chart - recorded in Nashville with Tom Hambridge producer of Buddy Guy’s latest Grammy winner and featured guests, Joe Louis Walker and Larry Coryell. Billboard called it “one sweet triptych across the musical map”. Rave reviews appeared in Living Blues and Elmore Magazines resulting in a Guitar Player Magazine feature.

Coryell's album, Restless Mind (2015) is funky, bluesy, jazzy, and guitar driven. Murali does a great job of being a “standard” bluesman by singing about everyday woes such as love, life, money, struggles, and women.

A versatile and literate East Coast alt-rock institution, Guster emerged in the mid-’90s with a quirky amalgam of acoustic folk and pop before adopting a more robust sound that blended stadium-ready Brit-pop grandeur with proletariat American trad-rock. Known for their earworm hooks, soaring choruses, deft guitar noodling, and early on, their distinctive hand-drumming, the band broke big in 1999 with the release of their third studio effort, Lost and Gone Forever, which included the breezy hit single “Fa Fa.” Subsequent LPs like Ganging Up on the Sun (2006), Easy Wonderful (2010), and Look Alive (2019) found similar success, yielding numerous charting singles that found their way into popular television shows and films.

Although they evolved into a full-fledged pop band, Guster began their career as an offbeat acoustic trio. The band, whose three co-founders met during freshmen year at Tufts University, spent most of the
