With Appalachian influences, dust bowl, Cajun and a dash of rockabilly, John Roy Zat comes from a long line of American singer-songwriters who occupy that space between traditional country and folk music. Think John Prine, Rodney Crowel, Jesse Winchester – you get the idea. Kate Wolf recorded his words to Midnight On The Water for her second album, with him playing fiddle; and the song has since been covered by Banish Misfortune, Caroline Herring and many others. His latest album, WHERE ZAT, was released in November of 2021. After a lot of this world traveled, JRZ now makes his home in Northern California. | ||
