Americana Rock ‘n’ Roll band, Hollis Brown, is named for the Bob Dylan song “The Ballad of
Hollis Brown”.

Formed by Queens-natives and songwriters, they achieved significant success since their formation in 2009, releasing their debut album Ride On The Train (2013) garnering song and video premieres from Rolling Stone, Paste, and American Songwriter, along with music placements in the worldwide trailer for the Michael Keaton film “The Founder,” the Willem Dafoe/Matt Dillon film “Bad Country,” Direct TV’s “Kingdom”; Showtime’s “Shameless,” MTV’s “Real World,” and an online ad campaign for Abercrombie & Fitch.

Following a Lou Reed tribute concert in NYC, Alive Naturalsound asked the band to record a tribute to the Velvet Underground’s classic album Loaded, as a limited-edition vinyl release for Record Store Day 2014.

Hollis Brown’s third album 3 Shots (2015), featured the Bo Diddley collaboration “Rain Dance,” and the duet “Highway 1” with acclaimed alt-country songstress Nikki Lane. “Run Right To You” (2016) was released on Velvet Elk/One Little Indian records. Their song “Steady Ground” is a featured exclusive on Amazon Acoustics playlist, and their vinyl EP, Cluster of Pearls was chosen as one of the 300 select releases throughout the world for Record Store Day 2016.

The band has toured extensively in the US and Europe, headlining and supporting The The Counting Crows, Citizen Cope, The Zombies, Jackie Greene, Heartless Bastards, Rich Robinson of Black Crowes, and Jesse Malin, and building an impressive fan base on both continents.

Mascot Label Group has announced the signing of Hollis Brown to a global recording agreement with Cool Green Records.

If you think you’ve heard what a ukulele can do, think again. Over the past 15 years, Jake Shimabukuro has challenged and changed all notions of what was possible with a ukulele. Often referred to as the Miles Davis, Jimi Hendrix, Bruce Lee and Michael Jordan of his craft, Jake takes the ukulele where no one has taken it before creating awe inspiring music that ranges from jazz, blues and rock to bluegrass, classical and folk. Performing around the world with an out-of-the-box blend of stunning virtuosity and deep musicality, Jake is an adventurer on a mission to connect and inspire. Whether one-on-one or in front of thousands, Jake shares a deep emotional connection with the listener that is open, magical and transcendent.

ONA: https://youtu.be/VWeQDSUIMd8

“Alexa's album [GRAMMY® nominated ONA] brings a new lens to the female experience: from prophesies disbelieved, to resistance, to sexuality, to awareness of mother earth herself.” - Forbes

"...a jazz singer with a global perspective..." - The New York Times

"...Thana Alexa stood out, turning a style of scatting that’s become cliché into something entirely new, evocative, and exhilarating!" - Billboard

Surprising is the word that perhaps best describes Grammy® nominated and Downbeat cover artist Thana Alexa, an extraordinarily creative force in music. Her latest album, ONA (self-release, March 2020), which earned her two Grammy® nominations including Best Jazz Vocal Album, was inspired by the cross generational and cross-cultural stories of the immigrant women in her family and evolved into an exploration of the experiences of contemporary women everywhere.

ONA has spawned more female-focused projects: Alexa, together with Grammy® nominated artist, Nicole Zuraitis and bassist, Julia Adamy formed SONICA, a trio that fuses electronics, vocal harmonies, electric bass, keyboards and percussion into their unique original music and arrangements.

Alexa also created the project Founding Mothers of Jazz in conjunction with Music Talks Concerts to honor the history of women in jazz, many who are not historically recognized for their contributions because of their gender.

One of Alexa’s most important and ongoing collaborations has been with her husband, five-time Grammy® winner Antonio Sanchez. Together with his band Migration they have recorded three critically acclaimed albums and toured throughout North and South America, Europe, Asia, and Australia.

During the 2020 Coronavirus lockdown, Alexa made headlines as a co-founder of what Rolling Stone called the first “virtual jazz festival” and fundraising initiative, Live From Our Living Rooms. Together with co-founders Owen Broder and Sirintip, the team contracted over 120 artists, raised over $140,000, and helped facilitate grants to over100 US-based musicians in need.

Joy Zimmerman
Singer-Songwriter, Americana, and Acoustic
Hootenanny Cafe Mini Concerts
Online and on the radio, NY   See Map
Joy Zimmerman’s soulful vocals and lyrical songwriting light up her new acoustic roots album, “The Canvas Before Us”, which reached #8 on Folk Alliance International’s Top Albums of August 2021. Listeners will hear echoes of their own journeys in Joy’s songs of hope, challenge and resilience. Joy’s reinvention as a dynamic singer/songwriter might seem surprising. She didn’t pick up a guitar, sing a solo or write her first song until her sons were in elementary school. But the elements were all waiting…a voice of honey, insights for days, and a deep love of music beginning with kindergarten violin lessons. A touring musician based in Kansas City, Joy has recorded eight albums of original music and received an American Songwriter Lyric Contest Honorable Mention and ten Walnut Valley Festival NewSong Showcase wins.

"Quinn Sullivan may also be the most gifted guitar prodigy on the planet, a blues player of jaw dropping virtuosity and depth who could turn out to be the Clapton of his generation" - The Washington Post

"In A World Without You" (LIVE): https://youtu.be/q8Ifw04PyKU

http://quinnsullivanmusic.com/

Quinn Sullivan's fourth album, Wide Awake, offers a veritable tasting menu of electric guitar tone but that's not what he wants you to notice. At least not at first. Songwriting is a little like being a chef. You want people to enjoy the meal. They can ask about the ingredients afterwards.

“You pick up a ’59 Les Paul and it just speaks differently to any other guitar you have ever played before – it is a beast of its own.“

A rare artist who has always sounded older than his years, Sullivan has been touring the world since he was an 11-year-old, playing storied venues such as Madison Square Garden, the Hollywood Bowl and RFK Stadium in Washington D.C., as well as India’s Mahindra Blues Festival, Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival, and three Montreux Jazz Festivals. Quinn has shared the stage with his hero and mentor Buddy Guy, as well as Carlos Santana on several occasions.

Quinn’s performance experience includes appearances on national broadcast television programs such as The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Conan, and The Oprah Winfrey Show, to name a few.

Sullivan is fully aware of what it takes to pursue his passion...
“I love everything from the songwriting process to recording and especially touring around the world with my incredible bandmates. I’m fortunate to be able to see the world and meet new people everyday. This what I was born to do.”

Celebrating the 50th year of Harrison's album, "All Things Must Pass", and his life and work.

The Dark Horses feature ~

Glenn John Arnowitz / Keyboards, Harmonica, Vocals
Paul Binotto / Bass, Vocals
Michael Robert Hickey / Drums, Vocals
Gerard "Gee" Mancini / Slide & all things stringed, Vocals
Michael O’Brien / Guitar, Vocals
Pattie Gordon / Vocals
Melissa Mahony / Vocals
Mike Pacer / Alto sax and Bari Saxes
Barton Schindler / Tenor Sax

The Dark Horses, a powerhouse line-up of nine Orange County NY musicians, bring to life Harrison’s musical legacy from his Cavern Club days with the Beatles through his solo career, including collaborations with Eric Clapton, Jeff Lynne, and The Traveling Wilburys.

The stories behind the music form a narrative connecting the music to a generation for which Harrison’s music was a soundtrack, while creating context for a newer musical generation. Less a nostalgic road trip than a musical timeline that we somehow continue to discover.
