" ...one of the hardest working Reggae Bands in the world."

King Yellowman
http://www.kingyellowman.com

In the history of Reggae music, King Yellowman's story is incredible - an upbringing at the Maxfield Home orphanage in Kingston, and being an albino in Jamaica - overcoming obstacles to become the biggest Reggae artist since Bob Marley.

After winning a talent contest at Tastee Patties in Kingston, Yellow went on to excite reggae crowds throughout Jamaica, and the rest of the world, with his boastful, bodacious lyrics. He demonstrated an ability to ride rhythm and engage the crowds. His work with the Ace Sound System in St. Thomas, drew immense crowds at dance hall performances.

Yellowman worked for a number of different producers, sometimes releasing as many as five albums per year. This led to a recording contract with CBS Records, with whom he recorded one album, before he was diagnosed with jaw cancer and was given six months to live....in 1986.

King Yellowman was featured on American group The Dubplates song “UH HUH”, which peaked at number four on the Billboard (2017) Reggae Album charts.

K’reema

https://www.youtube.com/KareemaMusic

The daughter of King Yellowman, K'reema is Reggae
royalty - a beautiful spirit on and off the stage.

K'reema has earned her title - Princess of Dancehall - with an electrifying stage show. One of the fresh new melodic voices on the international music scene, sh is a powerful vocalist, creative songwriter and producer. Her sultry fusion of pop/r&b with hard core reggae leaves fans captivated.

K’reema created her own "family" label, Yellow Baby, inspired by one of her father’s hit songs, and released her father King Yellowman's first album in 15 years.

K’reema has released music of her own as well as her line of apparel branded ‘zunguzunguguzunguzeng’, a phrase made popular by Yellowman, and holds the title of the best dancehall song in the world.

Zunguzunguguzunguzeng has been sampled by local and international music stars, including the late Tupac; Queen Latifa, Buju Banton and Vybz Kartel.

Robbie Dupree began his music career singing on the street corners of Brooklyn. His passion for music flourished in the rich, creative atmosphere of the late 1960s. Moving to New York City during these exciting days, Robbie dedicated himself to songwriting and the pursuit of a solo career. He studied the work of R&B legends such as Marvin Gaye and Sam Cooke. Their powerful rhythms and sensual melodies became the foundation of Robbie’s emerging style, which would take him through several ensembles in the city and eventually to Woodstock, where he garnered national acclaim with his songs "Steal Away", "Hot Rod Hearts", "Brooklyn Girls", and "When You're Down."

Robbie released his debut album in 1978, earning two Top Ten singles and a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist, and has continued to record and perform through his new single Ordinary Day (2018).

In the ensuing years, Robbie has recorded and released ten studio recordings. His songs have been featured in TV and film, notably Donnie Brasco and most recently on the TV shows Better Call Saul and Orange is the New Black. Neither indoor nor outdoor, it is immersed in what we usually call ‘the environment’, while providing a frame of reference for focused attention, even contemplation. It is built from reclaimed materials and uses the tea plant as a stain for both the wooden floor and the raw silk fabric.

Being-Sound creates time-based experiential art, sound and video installations, interactive experiences, live bass meditations, tea and ambient rituals, and DJ sets. Being-Sound has presented work at various events and galleries across the United States and internationally.

Big indie bands, small city setting. First River Festival comes to the Paramount Hudson Valley Theater on October 9-10, 2021. It brings together indie bands like the region’s never seen. First River features established indie road dogs alongside rising stars. Sub-genres range from indie rock to alt folk, to alt R&B to a dash of indie pop electronica. Headliners include Parquet Courts on Saturday and Waxahatchee on Sunday. Guided by Voices closes Saturday’s festivities. Unlike most festivals, all three headlining bands have 90-minute sets to give audiences more of what they want.
Sunday opens with Nashville up-and-comer Katy Kirby, continues with San Diego’s breezy alt pop/R&B from Jelani Aryeh, moves on to Liz Cooper’s fun mix of alt folk and psychedelic rock, jigs with the Felice Brothers’ unforgettable alt folk melodies and vocals, then dances into the night with 60s rock fun from The Nude Party, and caps things off with the ethereal indie sounds of buzz-band Waxahatchee.

Singer-Songwriter, Americana
Hootenanny Cafe Mini Concerts

Arthur Davenport's style is diverse Americana, from folk to alt-county and rock. Arthur was featured on National Public Radio performing his song, "Lonesome Cowboy," written for a NPR cowboy music compilation album entitled "'Round-em Up!" This review for his 2002 "Reality Bends" album provides a fitting description of his style: "Using only an acoustic guitar as backup, Arthur Davenport crafts sparse, haunting folk songs with a wry sense of the absurd. Deftly hopping from one vocal personality to another, sometimes within a line, this far-out mountain man keeps the listener guessing." Mike McGuire, Listen.com Arthur released "Whispering to the Wind" in 2010, a collection of 10 original ballads. His “La Rosa Dulce” song was a winner in the “A Still Small Voice 4U's” songwriting contest award in 2020 on the subject of “Monuments”. The “Jonathan Leviathan” album came out in 2020 to present something old, new borrowed and blue, with solo songs, instrumentals and band-backed ballads.
