![]() Thursday 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm | Popa Chubby's All Star Stones Tribute | The FALCON 1348 Route 9W Marlboro, NY See Map |
![]() FEATURING -- Popa Chubby / Guitar Dave Keyes / Keys / Organ Arthur Neilson / Guitar Eddie Camiolo / Bass Tom Papadatos / Drums - and special guests! http://popachubby.wix.com/popachubby "Popa Chubby’s a big man....but his music is much bigger....[Chubby will] continue carrying the torch for the blues....and put on a damn good show. What more can one say?" - Elmore Chubby took his cue from artists of the '60s, including Sly & the Family Stone, Jimi Hendrix, and Eric Clapton, among others. In his early twenties, he worked for a while backing punk poet Richard Hell. Chubby's first big break was winning a national blues talent search sponsored by KLON, a public radio station in Long Beach, California. He won New Artist of the Year, and opened the Long Beach Blues Festival in 1992, and has been rocking audience with his bold approach to music ever since. Chubby continues to play more than 200 club dates a year, and has released numerous albums worldwide, since. Most notably, his Sony/Okeh debut, 'Booty and the Beast', was produced by longtime Atlantic Records engineer/producer TOM DOWD, whose recordings by Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, Wilson Pickett, among others are legendary! Popa Chubby latest album "Prime Cuts: The Very Best of the Beast from the East", is self-selected “greatest hits” collection includes favorite cuts from his nearly three decades of bringing his version of the blues to the people. No one can accuse Ted Horowitz (aka: Popa Chubby) of taking the easy route on his long musical journey, but in doing it “his way” he has managed to gather plenty of fans along the way. This collection is as much for them, as it is for Popa Chubby. Grown Man Crying Blues / Prime Cuts: https://youtu.be/KAv0Sjtm1Og

![]() Jane Lee Hooker - Jericho (official video) https://youtu.be/vf5Mm3LksIM It’s fiery, just the right level of grubby, and a righteous kick in the shins." -Classic Rock Magazine "...Attitude and swagger by the lorry load...rocks like a mother." - Music Republic Magazine http://www.janeleehooker.com/ JLH are not new to the game. The five members have decades of experience playing, recording, and touring both nationally and internationally. This a band of five women from New York City infuse the grit and attitude of their hometown into the blues. With double lead guitars, a heavy rhythm section, and soul-scouring vocals, JLH honors the likes of Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Johnny Winter, Big Mama Thornton, and other blues greats. Nominated for The Deli’s Best of 2014 Poll for Emerging NYC Artists, JLH is a blistering blues monster capable of whispering in your ear before stomping on your heart. JLH’s debut, No B!, was released in November 2014 - since, they’ve shared bills with Death Valley Girls, Supersuckers, The Ike Reilly Assassination, Frightwig, Whiskey Shivers, Steepwater Band, The Wailers, Bernard Fowler, and the Bluebonnets (feat. Kathy Valentine, ex Go-Go’s), among others. So how’d this gang of pros find each other? Guitarists Hightop and Tina honed their love of blazing dual leads in Helldorado in the ’90s. From there, Hightop joined Nashville Pussy, Tina joined Bad Wizard, and both toured the world. But they missed the rush of trading guitar solos with one another, leaving audiences howling with joy. They recruited Mary, who played bass with Hightop in the punk band the Wives. Drummer, Cool Whip got the nod before she even finished slamming out the first song of her audition. And no singer in the entire city can bring a crowd to its knees harder or faster than Dana Danger Athens.

![]() Saturday 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm | Big Takeover Ska | Bearsville Theater 291 Tinker St Woodstock, NY See Map |
![]() Traditionalists or progressives? Fronted by the charismatic Jamaican-born singer and songwriter Nee Nee Rushie, the seven-piece New York band The Big Takeover plays original music that is rooted in and reverent toward the genres and rhythms of Jamaican pop: reggae, rocksteady, ska. They are devotees of Desmond Dekker and the way the old school did it. At the same time, The Big Takeover crosses lines and blends traditions like global pop fusionists. Their deceptively complex arrangements and big hooks connect with the spirit of Motown and the uptown sophistication of the 21st century retro soul and R&B revival scene. That rich sound, along with their rigorous performing schedule and studio work, has been paying off. In 2018, the Big Takeover completed a successful 12-state tour. ![]() Sunday 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm | Leslie Mendelson | The FALCON 1348 Route 9W Marlboro, NY See Map |
![]() "Focused performances such as “Lay It All On Me,” match rigorous intellect within original compositions, virtues displayed in clear relief via the spare arrangements and terse musicianship....other artists in the pop/rock realm will be hard-pressed to match, much less surpass this record for its depth, durability and unwavering devotion to craft." - GLIDE MAGAZINE https://www.lesliemendelson.com/ Brooklyn-based singer/songwriter Leslie Mendelson is supporting her most recent studio album ‘If You Can’t Say Anything Nice…,’ as well as a solo acoustic EP ‘In The Meantime,’ recorded during the 2020 lockdown. Described by Relix Magazine as an artist with “a loyal, cross-generational audience that hugs the hippie, hipster, coffee shop and society crowds,” Leslie’s timeless musicality and evocative songwriting indeed cuts a wide swath. All Music writes that Leslie evokes “1970s songwriter influences in the vein of Carole King and Carly Simon,” while The Aquarian calls her “the closest thing one can get to a truly honest musical experience.” Leslie Mendelson’s previous work, including 2009 Grammy-nominated debut album ‘Swan Feathers’ and 2017 album, ‘Love & Murder’ dealt with matters of the heart. When it came time to compose the songs that comprise ‘If You Can’t Say Anything Nice…,’ however, she and her longtime writing partner Steve McEwan set out to examine the anxiety stemming from the current socio-political climate with songs like “Medication,” “I Need Something To Care About” and “Would You Give Up Your Gun.” It’s fitting extension of a more socially conscious outlook offered on “A Human Touch”—Leslie’s duet with Jackson Browne for the documentary film, ‘5B,’ released in 2019. If Leslie Mendelson’s only collaboration with a legendary musician was Jackson Browne, it would be a worthy point to celebrate. What’s truly telling is that Leslie has also drawn the attention of The Grateful Dead’s Bob Weir who recorded a duet with her on Roy Orbison’s standard, “Blue Bayou,” while no less than classic rock royalty The Who invited her to open two shows at Madison Square Garden last year. She was set to open three more dates for the band in 2020 that were unfortunately postponed due to the pandemic. With some of rock music’s most legitimate voices seeking Leslie out, it leaves no doubt the rarefied air she inhabits as an artist.
