 Lisa Gutkin's Porch Band is a world music jam band born on a street in Brooklyn, coming together during the pandemic thanks to neighborhood music lovers who presented concerts on their stoops and porches.
Lisa Gutkin is best known as a long-time member of the Grammy Award winning Klezmatics and founder of the 'downtown' Celtic band, Whirligig.
Will Holshouser's music draws on an eclectic range of sounds from various folk music styles, jazz, hymns, classical and experimental music.
Jessica Lurie is a regular fixture on jazz, new music, experimental jazz, funk and folk scenes, touring extensively in the US and Europe.
Drummer Michael Sarin has been at the center of New York City's genre bending jazz and improvisational music community.
Jerome Harris has won international recognition as one of the more versatile and penetrating stylists of his generation on both guitar and bass guitar and has appeared on five of Sonny Rollins' recordings.

BLACK ROOTS SUMMER
Presented in association with Electric Root and curated by jazz vocalist Michael Mwenso and producer Jono Gasparro, and conceived as a platform to create a creative healing space for a troupe of predominantly BIPOC artists, Black Roots Summer will convene a group of over 20 vocalists, musicians, dancers, and creatives for a two-week residency resulting in three original concerts.

The Restless Age is a collaboration - a harmony of WILL BRYANT, LEE FALCO, and BRANDON MORRISON. Each player brings a unique song and voice to the bandstand, as the trio spans generations and genres.
The members of The Restless Age have been a premier rhythm section throughout New York’s Hudson Valley for the past half-decade. As the house band for Amy Helm's 'Oh to be Home Again' at Levon Helm Studios, they performed behind Donald Fagen, John Sebastian and Graham Nash, as well as being Kate Pierson's (The B-52's) touring band in support of her 2015 debut album 'Guitars & Microphones’. During that same year they toured the U.S. & Canada supporting the The Waterboys and The Gipsy Kings along with fellow Hudson Valley singer-songwriter Connor Kennedy.
Lee Falco, Brandon Morrison and Will Bryant rose to national attention backing Donald Fagen of Steely Dan, as "The Nightflyers" on his 2017 national tour.
Now, with their harmonious indie rock The Restless Age steps out as a unit of songwriters, singers and instrumentalists.

Before the sun sets, Conrad and Dylan discuss local bat and moth diversity, ecology, and conservation with a short slide show. Various moth species captured the night before the event are showcased. At sunset, using hand-held bat detectors, participants will listen for the ultrasonic calls of bats flying around the landscape. BridgeMusik presents 2021 BridgeMusik Summer Festival Faculty and Young Artist Concert #1. The program will feature student performers alongside faculty members Krystof Witek (violin), Kevin Matson (violin), Samuel Marchan (viola), Luis Casal (viola), Fred Zlotkin (cello), Diego Garcia (cello) in the beloved Mendelssohn Octet. Students will also present solo works from Bach to Sibelius. The concert will include a new work "Where are the Watchers" for flute ensemble by American composer Philip Wharton and performed by flutists Tanya Witek, Gretchen Pusch, Lisa Hansen, Pao Tseng and Melissa Aleles.

This eighteen-piece ensemble - five woodwind players, four trumpeters, three trombonists, two keyboardists, guitar, violin, bass, drums, and vocalists throughout - has been performing jazz arrangements of Zappa’s music regularly since 1994. But what started out as faithfully antic versions of the composer’s complex, fiendishly clever music has expanded to reflect Palermo’s passion for Todd Rundgren, British psychedelia and progressive rock.
This often entails head-spinning in-jokes, such as performing Traffic’s 1971 tune “The Low Spark Of High Heeled Boys” over Zappa’s bass line for his composition “Chunga’s Revenge.”
The Ed Palermo Big Band performs monthly at the Iridium in Manhattan and regularly at The Falcon in Marlboro, NY, where Palermo often scripts elaborate thematic evenings. At one such event, vocalist Napoleon Murphy Brock—a longtime Zappa vocalist who frequently works with Palermo—sang the line “I’m never getting married” (from Jimmy Webb’s “The Worst That Could Happen”) as Palermo stumbled onstage in prison stripes for an evening dedicated to his 34th wedding anniversary.
Most of Palermo’s humor, however, lies in the music’s richly textured citations and juxtapositions. The scores themselves are funny.
“I wouldn’t call my thing a comedy show,” he said, “but it’s got a lot of humor in it. I often think that jazz takes itself way too seriously. Maybe that makes my thing stand out a little more.”

Sexmob continues to deconstruct familiar pop tunes with subversive impunity. Everything from Prince’s “Sign O’ the Times” to John Barry’s “Goldfinger”, the Grateful Dead’s “Ripple”, Nirvana’s “About a Girl”, the Rolling Stones’ “Ruby Tuesday”, Buffalo Springfield’s “For What It’s Worth”, Paul McCartney’s “Live and Let Die” and ABBA’s “Fernando” is fair game for this band of musical renegades.
Bernstein is explicit about Sexmob not being a cover band.
”Covers to me means you play it exactly like the record,” he explains. “I just take songs that I feel have a great melody and do them in my style. So I’ll pick a tune and tell the guys, ‘Let’s Sexmob this!’ And I realize that's what jazz musicians have always done. That’s how Lester Young and Charlie Parker and Miles Davis got popular. They played the songs that everyone knew. And because they could recognize the song then that invited them into their style."
Sexmob came together in 1996 in a weekly residency at the Knitting Factory Tap Room and in 1998 released its debut, Din of Inequity. They followed with 2000’s Solid Sender, 2001’s Sex Mob Does Bond, 2003’s Dime Grind Palace, 2006’s Sexotica, 2009’s Sex Mob Meets Medeski: Live in Willisau and 2013’s Cinema, Circus & Spaghetti: Sex Mob Plays Fellini. The group’s latest, Cultural Capital, is the first Sexmob recording to feature all Bernstein original compositions. “Some of them, like ‘Bari Si,’ ‘Step Apache’ and ‘Syrup’ are through-composed like Jelly Roll Morton pieces,” he explains. “And some like ‘4 Cents’ and ‘Street’ and are more jammy, where we take a little idea — a line or a groove — and just develop it.”
Bernstein and his Sexmob crew continue to push the envelope in delightfully subversive ways on their fiercely independent, self-produced new outing, Cultural Capital.
Bernstein’s on-stage antics and the band’s amazing musicianship are the focal points. They never rehearse. They never have a set list. Things are constantly fresh.

Chubby took his cue from artists of the '60s, including Sly & the Family Stone, Jimi Hendrix, and Eric Clapton, among others. In his early twenties, he worked for a while backing punk poet Richard Hell. Chubby's first big break was winning a national blues talent search sponsored by KLON, a public radio station in Long Beach, California. He won New Artist of the Year, and opened the Long Beach Blues Festival in 1992, and has been rocking audience with his bold approach to music ever since.
Chubby continues to play more than 200 club dates a year, and has released numerous albums worldwide, since. Most notably, his Sony/Okeh debut, 'Booty and the Beast', was produced by longtime Atlantic Records engineer/producer TOM DOWD, whose recordings by Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, Wilson Pickett, among others are legendary!

Frank Loesser’s masterpiece, The Most Happy Fella, is a gorgeous meditation on our longing for human connection, made only more poignant by the isolation of the past year.
Loesser’s lyrical score is performed by seven female and non-binary voices backed by thirteen musicians. Most Happy is conceived by director Daniel Fish, along with Daniel Kluger and Nathan Koci—his musical collaborators from the Tony Award-winning Bard SummerScape production of Oklahoma!—giving audiences a new way to experience the songs of an American musical treasure.
