FEATURING:
Michael Montali (Hollis Brown)
Don DiLego
Anthony D’Amato
Brian Dunne

https://www.fantasticcatamerica.com/

They said it couldn’t be done. Four different songwriters joining forces to form a single band? There was simply no precedent (outside of CSNY, The Beatles, The Traveling Wilburys, The Highwaymen, Monsters of Folk, etc).

And yet Fantastic Cat did it anyway, defying the odds and teaming up to record their highly unanticipated debut, ‘The Very Best Of Fantastic Cat.’ Captured in the wilds of the Pocono Mountains, the album gleefully careens between genres and decades, mixing electrified 60’s folk and 70’s AM radio gold with 80’s heartland rock and 90’s alt-country. The result is a record that balances careful craftsmanship and ecstatic abandon in equal measure, a raw, intoxicating collection captured live in the moment and fueled by the chemistry of four longtime friends making music for the sheer joy of it.

Individually, each member of Fantastic Cat boasts their own impressive resume along with a litany of critical acclaim. The Guardian dubbed Don DiLego “one to watch.” NPR said Anthony D’Amato “sings and writes in the tradition of Bruce Springsteen or Josh Ritter.” Rolling Stone called Brian Dunne’s latest single a “stunner” and praised Mike Montali’s band, Hollis Brown, as “the soundtrack for a late-night drive through the American heartland.”

Collectively, though, the four transcend their respective roots, emerging as an instrument-swapping, harmony-trading, tear-jerking, wise-cracking rock and roll cooperative far greater than the sum of its parts.

They say some cats are born fantastic; others have fantasy thrust upon them. These guys are somewhere in the middle.

Veterans of the acclaimed Steely Dan rhythm section present eclectic instrumental music including jazz standards, pop classics, and selections from their solo recordings.

It’s only natural that pianist Jim Beard and guitarist Jon Herington would strike the kind of special accord heard throughout this intimate duo encounter. They’ve shared countless hours in the studio over the years playing on each other’s albums, beginning with Beard’s 1990 debut SONG OF THE SUN and continuing through to Herington’s 2016 album ADULT ENTERTAINMENT.

They’ve worked together as sidemen on recordings by bassist Victor Bailey, saxophonists Bill Evans and Bob Berg, drummer Dennis Chambers and brothers Michael and Randy Brecker. And they’ve shared the bandstand on tour with Steely Dan for the past several years — 20 for Herington, 11 for Beard.

“There are many, many records and gigs and times of our lives,” said Herington, reflecting back on their musical partnership. “Not only that, we’ve been sharing a studio ever since we got to New York, which is probably since 1987.”

Solo piano recording "Show of Hands" has been released by Moosicus for Europe and Sunnyside for North America and Japan. Visit Sunnysidezone.com for some sample tracks.

'Revolutions' is available worldwide. 'Revolutions' is a full orchestra recording that features ten of Jim's compositions performed by the Metropole Orchestra conducted by Vince Mendoza. You can get your copy at www.amazon.com/] or http://itunes.apple.com/].

Jim's first and second releases; "Song of the Sun" and "Lost at the Carnival" are now available for download or streaming on iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, MediaNet, eMusic and more.

Jon Herington is a longtime NYC based guitarist, singer/songwriter, producer, bandleader, and educator. He has been the guitarist of choice with the iconic band Steely Dan for both recording and touring since 1999. Jon has six solo releases in his discography, the most recent of which, (quiet), is a collection of 18 of his many arrangements for solo guitar. An earlier release of Time On My Hands earned him a nomination for Vintage Guitar Hall Of Fame Album of the Year.

“Chunks and Chairknobs” - the new duo recording with Jim Beard and Jon Herington is now available. You can purchase CDs and LPs (signed if you like) at jonherington.com

John Shipe
Singer-Songwriter, Contemporary
Hootenanny Cafe Mini Concerts
Online and on the radio, NY   See Map
John Shipe has been at it for 34 years. Fiercely poetic & fearlessly vulnerable. He’s delivered a dozen albums, toured a million miles, and played thousands of shows — including openers for Taj Mahal, Keb Mo’, Derek Trucks, and Bob Dylan. Trained as a fiction writer & poet, his songs are packed with diverse, vivid characters, drama, humor, and unusual subject matter. Not exactly a household name, but 40 Shipetunes have rotated on a couple hundred independent and commercial radio outlets. Often described as cinematic, his music appears in feature films and award-winning documentaries. One such song, “Pit Bull” blues, turned him into an unlikely public advocate for canine rescue. More recently, he’s turned those advocacy impulses towards the civil rights and dignity of his own species.

Webster always manages to pull out all the stops to show us what more she can do, what hidden recesses her instrument has to bear. A Woman Like Me’s two vocal tour de forces close out the project: an original, “Always Love Me,” and a cover, “Somewhere Over The Rainbow.” - Soul Tracks

www.lindseywebstermusic.com

From the first note, Lindsey Webster combines an admirable natural talent with a genuine, accessible stage presence. In 2009, Lindsey met her partner, Keith Slattery, and started performing professionally. Together, with a band of world-class musicians, they’ve performed hundreds of shows regionally, nationally and internationally.

The success of her second album "You Change" and achieving the only vocally driven song to hit #1 on the Billboard Contemporary Jazz chart for four weeks caught the eye of Shanachie Entertainment, with whom she signed to release her third album, "Back To Your Heart". On her fourth outing - Love Inside - Webster continues a devotion to the smooth R&B and soul traditions without supplanting or mimicking, with prominent soul jazz musicianship.

The release of Lindsey’s fifth full-length studio album, A Woman Like Me, contains great songwriting and performances, featuring music industry veteran A-listers Nathan East, Vinnie Colaiuta, Luis Conte, and Mike DeMicco.

Singing in a weathered voice that creates a disarming intimacy, he addresses his own wavering sobriety, failing marriage and midlife anxieties. These songs go to some dark places, but Roby manages to find some comfort setting his fears to music. - UNCUT MAGAZINE (8 of 10 Stars)

Kenny Roby's full band show features...

Tony Leone (Little Feat, Chris Robinson Brotherhood)
Rob Keller (6 String Drag)
John Lee Shannon (Zephaniah Ohora)

A songwriter’s songwriter, Kenny Roby’s album ’The Reservoir' has been called a master class in that craft. A native of the Carolinas, he was originally known for fronting 6 String Drag, pioneers in the Alt-Country and Americana music movements of the '90s. The band was produced by roots music godfather Steve Earle and signed to his E-Squared Records.

Since 6 String Drag’s breakup in 1998, Roby has released 5 solo records as well as a live duo record with Neal Casal. Casal was slated to be the producer on Roby’s newest record when he passed away in August of 2019. Dave Schools of Widespread Panic then took over producer duties on ’The Reservoir,' which also features the musicianship of Tony Leone (Little Feat, Chris Robinson, Phil Lesh) and Jeff Hill (Rufus Wainwright, Chris Robinson, Steve Earle), among others.

With The Reservoir, Kenny Roby affirms and reestablishes his spot as one of the (americana/folk rock/alt country) sub-genre’s most talented and evocative songwriters - AMERICANA HIGHWAYS
