Proceeds from tonight's performances will benefit the St. VINCENT DISASTER RELIEF FUND.

Mr. Walker encourages Falcon patrons and friends to make independent contributions, as well.

This evening's host, blues guitarist, singer, songwriter, blues historian and producer, Joe Louis Walker has been performing on the island of St. Vincent for the past 11 years as part of the BASIL CHARLES EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION, providing full-time scholarships, bursaries, and numerous educational pursuits including books, clothing, and food programs.

On April 9, 2021, La Soufričre volcano erupted on the main island of St. Vincent. Three days later, a second larger eruption released large amounts of hot ash, lava, and toxic gas. The eruptions have led to shortages of essential goods and services including clean drinking water, sanitation, food, electricity, transportation, shelter, and medical care.

Sofia Talvik
Singer-Songwriter, Roots Music
Hootenanny Cafe Mini Concerts
Online and on the radio, NY   See Map
Unmistakably Nordic in flavor, Sofia Talvik somehow still conforms to American interpretations of her own original music, a North Sea siren blending sparkle and melancholy. A veteran performer with 8 full length albums as well as numerous EPs, singles and tours behind her.
Growing up in Sweden her music has always had a special tint of her Scandinavian heritage, making her a favorite among music lovers, but her 16 month, and 37 state long tour, through the USA (in an RV) has moved her music closer to the Americana tradition.
The latest album “Paws of a Bear” released in September 2019 gained a lot of critical acclaim in both the U.S and Europe, charting on the top lists of U.S Folk Radio, Roots Music Report and Euro Americana Charts. Many of the songs of the album are on the theme of home and identity.

A longtime SummerScape favorite, Mx. Justin Vivian Bond has been heralded as “the greatest cabaret artist of this generation” (New Yorker). They return this season as Your Auntie Glam for three performances of a new concert specially commissioned for Montgomery Place.

During the pandemic, Bond took the internet for a weekly series of happy hour concerts broadcast from their Hudson Valley home, earning the title of #1 “at home diva” from the New York Times. After months in isolation, Bond beckons their long time collaborators Matt Ray, Nath Ann Carrara, and Claudia Chopek to join Your Auntie Glam (Bond’s alter-ego) out of the house and on the lawn in a celebration of summer, glamour, resistance, and new possibilities.

It’s been too long without Broadway; Here’s something to tide over theater geeks. Led by MacArthur Fellow flute soloist Claire Chase, “Pan” is described as a “celebration of the post-pandemic rebirth, nature and community” that details the life of the titular Greek deity and connects it to contemporary life. Live at PS21’s open-air Pavilion Theater on July 16th
Directed by Doug Fitch, this piece uses seven tableaux to explore the life of the god Pan, one of only two Greek deities said to have been put to death. The piece calls on community members to appear on stage with Claire Chase to evoke Pan’s spirit by playing bamboo chimes, ocarinas, tuned wine glasses and more. The experience and creative participation attempt to demonstrate, rather than speculate, how music-making allows for societies and communities to create together.

FEATURING:
Michael Montali (Hollis Brown)
Don DiLego
Anthony D’Amato
Brian Dunne

https://www.fantasticcatamerica.com/

They said it couldn’t be done. Four different songwriters joining forces to form a single band? There was simply no precedent (outside of CSNY, The Beatles, The Traveling Wilburys, The Highwaymen, Monsters of Folk, etc).

And yet Fantastic Cat did it anyway, defying the odds and teaming up to record their highly unanticipated debut, ‘The Very Best Of Fantastic Cat.’ Captured in the wilds of the Pocono Mountains, the album gleefully careens between genres and decades, mixing electrified 60’s folk and 70’s AM radio gold with 80’s heartland rock and 90’s alt-country. The result is a record that balances careful craftsmanship and ecstatic abandon in equal measure, a raw, intoxicating collection captured live in the moment and fueled by the chemistry of four longtime friends making music for the sheer joy of it.

Individually, each member of Fantastic Cat boasts their own impressive resume along with a litany of critical acclaim. The Guardian dubbed Don DiLego “one to watch.” NPR said Anthony D’Amato “sings and writes in the tradition of Bruce Springsteen or Josh Ritter.” Rolling Stone called Brian Dunne’s latest single a “stunner” and praised Mike Montali’s band, Hollis Brown, as “the soundtrack for a late-night drive through the American heartland.”

Collectively, though, the four transcend their respective roots, emerging as an instrument-swapping, harmony-trading, tear-jerking, wise-cracking rock and roll cooperative far greater than the sum of its parts.

They say some cats are born fantastic; others have fantasy thrust upon them. These guys are somewhere in the middle.
