Sunday 9:00 pm to 10:30 pm | Sofia Talvik Singer-Songwriter, Roots Music | Hootenanny Cafe Mini Concerts Online and on the radio, NY See Map |
Unmistakably Nordic in flavor, Sofia Talvik somehow still conforms to American interpretations of her own original music, a North Sea siren blending sparkle and melancholy. A veteran performer with 8 full length albums as well as numerous EPs, singles and tours behind her.
Growing up in Sweden her music has always had a special tint of her Scandinavian heritage, making her a favorite among music lovers, but her 16 month, and 37 state long tour, through the USA (in an RV) has moved her music closer to the Americana tradition. The latest album “Paws of a Bear” released in September 2019 gained a lot of critical acclaim in both the U.S and Europe, charting on the top lists of U.S Folk Radio, Roots Music Report and Euro Americana Charts. Many of the songs of the album are on the theme of home and identity.

Friday 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm | Pan Theater | PS21:Performance Spaces for the 21st Century Chatham, NY See Map |
| It’s been too long without Broadway; Here’s something to tide over theater geeks. Led by MacArthur Fellow flute soloist Claire Chase, “Pan” is described as a “celebration of the post-pandemic rebirth, nature and community” that details the life of the titular Greek deity and connects it to contemporary life. Live at PS21’s open-air Pavilion Theater on July 16th
Directed by Doug Fitch, this piece uses seven tableaux to explore the life of the god Pan, one of only two Greek deities said to have been put to death. The piece calls on community members to appear on stage with Claire Chase to evoke Pan’s spirit by playing bamboo chimes, ocarinas, tuned wine glasses and more. The experience and creative participation attempt to demonstrate, rather than speculate, how music-making allows for societies and communities to create together. Buy Tickets!

The Falcon Main Stage | No Tickets | No Cover | Donations Encouraged | Reservations Recommended
FEATURING: Michael Montali (Hollis Brown) Don DiLego Anthony D’Amato Brian Dunne https://www.fantasticcatamerica.com/ They said it couldn’t be done. Four different songwriters joining forces to form a single band? There was simply no precedent (outside of CSNY, The Beatles, The Traveling Wilburys, The Highwaymen, Monsters of Folk, etc). And yet Fantastic Cat did it anyway, defying the odds and teaming up to record their highly unanticipated debut, ‘The Very Best Of Fantastic Cat.’ Captured in the wilds of the Pocono Mountains, the album gleefully careens between genres and decades, mixing electrified 60’s folk and 70’s AM radio gold with 80’s heartland rock and 90’s alt-country. The result is a record that balances careful craftsmanship and ecstatic abandon in equal measure, a raw, intoxicating collection captured live in the moment and fueled by the chemistry of four longtime friends making music for the sheer joy of it. Individually, each member of Fantastic Cat boasts their own impressive resume along with a litany of critical acclaim. The Guardian dubbed Don DiLego “one to watch.” NPR said Anthony D’Amato “sings and writes in the tradition of Bruce Springsteen or Josh Ritter.” Rolling Stone called Brian Dunne’s latest single a “stunner” and praised Mike Montali’s band, Hollis Brown, as “the soundtrack for a late-night drive through the American heartland.” Collectively, though, the four transcend their respective roots, emerging as an instrument-swapping, harmony-trading, tear-jerking, wise-cracking rock and roll cooperative far greater than the sum of its parts. They say some cats are born fantastic; others have fantasy thrust upon them. These guys are somewhere in the middle.
