“Johnny Nicholas is one of the best bluesmen ever, black or white." - Stephen Bruton / Legendary Texas musician (1948 - 2009)
http://johnnynicholasblues.com/ Following "Fresh Air" (2016), Nicholas reissued his long out-of-print 1977 album, Too Many Bad Habits, along with a special bonus disc of rare, previously unreleased performances. Featured artists on the original sessions included blues legends Big Walter Horton on harmonica and vocals, Johnny Shines on guitar and vocals and Boogie Woogie Red on piano and vocals, as well as Ray Benson and other luminaries of the original Asleep at the Wheel lineup. Rated by Goldmine Magazine as one of the Top Ten Albums of the year! Nicholas was the lead vocalist and multi-instrumentalist with the Grammy-winning Asleep at the Wheel, and gave Blues Guitar Icon Ronnie Earl his first gig in the now legendary band, Guitar Johnny and the Rhythm Rockers. For four decades Johnny has toured, performed and recorded with numerous Blues and Americana Roots legends including: Mississippi Fred McDowell, Robert Lockwood Jr., Johnny Shines, Big Walter Horton, Roosevelt Sykes, Nathan Abshire, Robert Pete Williams, Eddie Taylor, Billy Boy Arnold, Hound Dog Taylor, Johnny Young, Houston Stackhouse, and Boogie Woogie Red. Fresh Air: https://youtu.be/893OnXdOlBY http://www.cindycashdollar.com/home/ Dobro, lap steel and steel guitarist Cindy Cashdollar, five-time Grammy recipient, has a beautiful new self-produced release, Waltz for Abilene on her own Silver Shot Records label. She’s gathered an all-star line up of musical guests on a collection of thirteen stellar instrumentals and vocals, from traditional songs to her own poignant Waltz for Abilene, inviting friends to play and sing on selected tracks, an approach that held up from her first release, Slide Show. The sublime beauty of Waltz for Abilene embodies the spirit of an artist whose musical touch transcends any genre. https://www.katieshoremusic.com/ Katie Shore, a native Texan, grew up on Texas Swing, Old Time Fiddle Tunes, and Gypsy Jazz. She moved to Austin in 2008 and played with various bands, while working as a luthier. She joined Asleep At The Wheel in 2014, as Female Vocalist and Lead Fiddle Player. In May 2020 she teamed up with Johnny Nicholas, playing as a duo, with a focus on studying American Roots Musicians and combining their own styles of swing, blues, and folk music.
Friday 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm | Modern Dance at PS21 with The Paul Taylor Dance Company, PS21: Performance Spaces for the 21st Century Rock (50's-60's), Classical/Opera | PS21: Performance Spaces for the 21st Century 2980 Route 66 Chatham, NY See Map |
The legendary Paul Taylor Dance Company will be in residence for three weeks, rehearsing and performing two works from its repertory of modern classics, Company B and Esplanade. In Company B, Taylor juxtaposes the high spirits of the early 1940s with the human toll of a young nation at war, transporting the audience with musical selections of the iconic Andrews Sisters. Young lovers lindy, jitterbug and polka in a near-manic grasp for happiness while in the background shadowy figures – soldiers – fall dead. Esplanade, The definitive Paul Taylor work, is at once playful, somber, romantic and explosive. This pillar of modern dance instantly affirmed Taylor as one of history’s greatest choreographers.
The impetus behind a Paul Taylor dance, like the iconic Esplanade “is powerful; its moods combine joy and grief, heartbreak and exuberance, memory and impulsiveness; and its spontaneity is often astounding.” — The New York Times More Info & Tickets

Saturday 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm | Jim Campilongo 4-Tet | The FALCON 1348 Route 9W Marlboro, NY See Map |
The Falcon Main Stage | No Tickets | No Cover | Donations Encouraged | Reservations Required
THE NEW YORK TIMES "Through the lean ropy sound of his Fender Telecaster, Mr. Campilongo connects American styles (Blues, Rock, Country, Jazz, R&B) in a sly knowing way." JAZZTIMES "You've got the makings of a very twisted guitar hero who deserves worshipping. Clever, crafty, quirky and cool." FEATURING: Jim Campilongo / Guitar - https://www.jimcampilongo.com/ Luca Benedetti / Guitar - https://www.lucabenedetti.com/ Andy Hess / Bass - https://www.andyhess.com/ Dan Rieser / Drums - https://pyroclasticrecords.com/artist/dan-rieser/ When TONEQUEST MAGAZINE wrote “…another stellar Campilongo record from the fertile mind of Jim Campilongo. How does he do it? Damned if we know…” they were looking at an overview of Campilongo’s fourteen solo releases and commenting on tthe musics growth and diversity. The Jim Campilongo 4 Tet is another step in this evolution. The 4 Tet is driven by long time Brooklyn collaborators Luca Benedetti (Ron Carter Steve Gadd), Andy Hess (John Scofield, Gov't Mule) and Dan Rieser (Rosanne Cash, Youn Sun Nah) who all bring their sound and style to create a unique distilled power. Their chemistry, focus and mutual admiration is apparent in making this musical unit sound like a joyous army. With fourteen albums of original material and guest appearances on dozens of recordings -- from the Bammie-winner's contribution on Cake's million-selling Prolonging the Magic to (most recently) doing lead guitar duties with The Little Willies, his band with Norah Jones -- Campilongo has played with JJ Cale, Al Anderson, Gillian Welch/David Rawlings, Peter Rowan, Martha Wainwright, Bright Eyes, Teddy Thompson, and Burning Spear to name a few, has earned two Gold records, and has written music for national ads for National Grid, Volkswagen, SBC, Michelin and Jack Daniel's NY POST "Campilongo is one of those New York secrets. A master of the electric guitar, he weaves in spaghetti western picks, blues chords and jazz refs into his haunting tunes, a combo of originals and covers." TIMEOUT NEW YORK "New York has no shortage of guitar heroes but few cover as many bases as Jim Campilongo reveals a range that extends from seductive country-swing to atmospheric jazz and well beyond."

Sunday 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm | Buffalo Stack | The FALCON 1348 Route 9W Marlboro, NY See Map |
The Falcon Main Stage | No Tickets | No Cover | Donations Encouraged | Reservations Required
"Buffalo Stack is an easy band to like.…the band is a cohesive unit…(Andy Stack's) guitar playing is never flashy, but it’s surprising, soulful, and always in the right place. ...he has an engaging, pure voice…here’s hoping the group will build up a strong enough following to be around a while and make more great music." - Vintage Guitar Magazine "... such accomplished musicality that you know you can love it for the long haul." - Cambridge Day http://buffalostack.com/ With slide blues guitar, gospel organ chords, New Orleans-style horns, and group harmonies, bluesy roots-rockers Buffalo Stack can’t help but recall Woodstock heroes - The Band. In fact, it was at Levon Helm’s barn in Woodstock where the members originally met, forming Buffalo Stack, who at their hardest hitting and blues-rocking-est recall Black Keys or White Stripes. Leader, Andy Stack, brings his command of American roots music, his knowledge of the folk traditions from his ancestors’ homeland of Ireland and his modern music sensibilities. Influences from Chicago, to the Delta, from New Orleans to New York City, find their way into the cocktail. He culls the deep cuts for material, improvises solos with a compelling approach to his instrument, and leads the band through a dynamic and adventurous set of original songs and carefully selected covers. The band in its versatility has performed in different formations from duo to big band with a horn section and background singers, consistently bringing enthusiastic audiences to their feet. As a guitarist, Andy has collaborated as a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, and record producer with artists such as Amy Helm, Duncan Sheik, Suzanne Vega, Lucius, Teddy Thompson, Jonah Smith, The Mammals (Mike & Ruthy), Les Nubians, NY Ska Jazz Ensemble, among many others. Buffalo Stack crafted a lush, soulful, self-titled Roots/Rock album (2014), and released a 5-song EP Hammer and Nails (2016). https://youtu.be/zvnAOVBHe0Q...

"....Noy...channels the likes of fusion godfather John Scofield, blues-rocker Stevie Ray Vaughan, and even the speech-pattern guitar phrasing of Zappa, someone who also knew how to play jazz that just didn’t sound like it." - Jazz Times FEATURING: Oz Noy / Guitar - http://www.oznoy.com Chulo Gatewood / Bass - https://www.allmusic.com/.../emmanuel-chulo-gatewood... Rocky Bryant / Drums - https://www.rockybryant.com/ He's got an intoxicating blend of jazz, funk, rock, blues, and r&b.
